Shutdown after current

Currently you are able to stop the playlist and whatnot after current, this is nifty, but could there also be an option to shut down winamp after current?

I just want it to shut winamp down at the end of the song. All of those go off of a timer or end of plylist.

just seen this one again and since i'm in a nice mood i'll get this one done for a day or so (plus i could do with it )

i'll even be nice and add it as an extra menu item on the stop button right-click menu with a relevant shortcut for it

w00t! DrO really did deserve MOTM.

(not that i ever doubted it, lol).

Also a question, i'll jsut post here rathar than make a new thread. Would it be possible to have the "stop after current" feature work with streams? As far as I can tell, there is a definante end to streamed tracks, or at least there can be, otherwise stream rippers would not work, so yea, if this is possible, it would be great also.

not a problem (got all the code needed, just to copy and paste from a few plugins and that's it basically done )

i've got no idea about the stream thing. i'm guessing that's all down to the internal workings of winamp or the relevant input plugin.

this plugin is almost done. at the moment i've got it working on a ctrl+shift+v shortcut with all menus fully infiltrated as required, even winamp5 specific ones

just got to get the button code handling correctly otherwise a ctrl+shift click will just do a 'stop w/ fadeout' at the moment (just to block a few internal messages and all that )

should be up in a few days i think after i've tested it to destruction.

...and here it is

Latest (first) version from DrO

Close after current v1.1
* fully infiltrates winamp menus, adding entries to the relevant places
* supports ctrl+shift+click on the stop button
* adds ctrl+shift+v to all native winamp windows
* state can only be set if winamp is playing/paused (as winamp does for stop
after current)
* resets the mode to off if stop is pressed

File Type: zip gen_cac_v1_1.zip (1.9 KB, 538 views)

*Gasp* Again, Dr. O!

I've installed this and am loving it, but I'd like to bring up the issue of streams again. Seeing how there is no definited end to a stream, could it be possible (if you can even detect that the current file is a stream) to just have it close winamp after X minutes, with X possibly being configurable?

I ask only because sometimes I fall asleep to Monkey Radio or SaltWaterChimp

This type of ability is something I really like in Winamp, and currently the best ive found for it is WinampSwitch , which is great because it can also shut down windows, but bad because it cant shutdown only winamp or tell how long the playlist is. But it has a timer option, which is nice.

Badrad, pehaps then you need a timer plugin like the ones mentioned earlier.

Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot!

Question. If there is no definite end to a stream, then how does stream.ripper work? How does it know when to create a new file for a new song? Based on this, I would guess that it would be possible to do "shutdown after current" for a stream.

@ badrad. timers/shutdown plugins

I know there are other plugins, as I mentioned I use WinampSwitch, but it has some annoying things and some shortcomings. There are two features that I like in WinampSwitch that Dr. O's plugin doesnt have.

The first one could easily be implemented. I like to be able set a time for closing winmap. In the menus where you add close after current, you could add close after X. And when you select it, it brings up a dialog box, with an entry field for minutes, and an OK or cancel button.

The other feature I like is very similair, but probably harder for Dr. O. Same situation, but sometimes I want winamp to close and windows to shutdown.

I am just saying the features I like in plugins like this. Optimistically, there would be a single plugin that would do it all, so I dont have to be juggling multiple plugins for the same functions.

@badrad: suggestions are always welcome and a few may be in the next version... maybe we can give you that single plugin

also i'll look into the stream thing for you (easier i can now play with streams )

You the man!

Anyway, maybe a useful reference for you for the stream thing would be Streamripper. It is a winamp plugin that can rip streams into individual mp3s. Its "against the rules" for me to link to it, but its the first result on Google and its open source and you can find it in sourceforge.

If the mods delete the name of it, just PM or email me.

Im not even sure if itll help, Just thought it might.

What would be great is if DrO could integrate this into the JTFE plugin. Simply have an "Enqueue Winamp Shutdown" button, and copy and paste the code. Would that be possible?

copy and pasting would not be ideal but as an extra option then i don't see why not. will have to see how best to implement so using it does not become a hurdle of options to set it.

Yah, not literally "copy and paste" the code, just use the same method...

[EDIT: off topic, will post in JTFE/PLE thread]

offtopic question : is DrO the only plugin master who writes plugins which work INSIDE winamp (unlike other plugins with their own ugly windows) ..... ?

Close after Current v1.3
  1. internally is now language independant
  2. added language file support for menus, etc
  3. adds log off/restart/shutdown options (via popup menu)
  4. added global hot keys to toggle close after current and cycle the extra options
download v1.3

still to add in the stream detection, but that'll be for the next update (hopefully not in 5 months time )

i really like this plugin (also with shutdown windows added...)
got two questions:
1) why is the 'close after current' also available when right-clicking previous button?
don't see the logic...

2) I like to use your plugin 'next on stop' as well
unfortunately, it doens't work with close after current (it does with stop after current)
so maybe winamp should first be stopped and then closed to make 'next on stop' work?

btw: next on stop doesn't work either when songs are in queue (another great plugin) with advance on stop enabled
when pressing 'stop' winamp advances to next song and the queued song gets started (don't know why)
try this:
- playback is stopped
- enqueue a song
- press next
at my computer, the song automatically starts... (while it shouldn't...)

know this is off topic, i'm sorry
just like your plugins, and they are all a bit connected

that seems to be a bug, related to the modern skin integration - will fix that in a bit.

i'll have a check out of that to see what's going on but what you've said is what i'd be likely to do anyway.

i'm in the process of re-doing the way the queue is triggered, so hopefully it'll be fixed by the time 5.04 comes out (whenever that is since i don't know)

what does cac_closemode=35350 mean?
just curious
thought it'd tell winamp what to do after closing (nothing, log off, restart or shutdown) but what's 35350

if it's too complicated, don't bother
just curiosity

cac_closemode stores the selected menu item and internally i decide what to do based on that value. so it is does tell winamp what to do just it was easier for me to save the selected menu id to the ini file. i could have gone for 0,1,2, etc

nothing really amazing

ok, i see

i've got one other issue as well
i tried B4S Playlist Loader v0.7
(don't really need or will use it, but as i know your plugins are great, i had to try it )
one 'bug' i think is that it's conflicting with cac
when right-clicking open button and then open b4s, cac gets activated also
and, in reverse (?, correct english?) the same: when using cac, there appears a popup box for opening a b4s (even a V appears next to 'Open B4S...' function)

as i said, won't use b4s, but as i noticed it, i thought i should tell

menu id's trouble??

Close after current v1.4
  • Fixed the incorrectly placed menu bugs
  • Added a 'persist' option to keep the mode enabled between uses of Winamp
  • Updated language file to v1.1
download v1.4
