I hate GeForce, I had a GeForce 2 GTS, and it was plap - no joke.
So I took it back with a "fault" and bought me a ATI Radeon 64mb (ViVo) and it rocks!
(With every setting on full, on Quake 3 Team Arena, I get around 90-100fps!!)

(I have seen the ultimate PC, its owned by the Co-Op and it is used to develop new medical cures etc. - no joke I saw this in a PC mag, its the fastest PC in the world, with something like 50 1ghz CPU's in a helix formation, its massive, from the pic it also looks like its stored in a giant fridge )

my all-time favourite system (i don't have it here anymore - shame on me):
* Motorola 68000 CPU @ 7.14 mHz
* 1 MB RAM (originally 512k)
* 2 880 kb floppy drives (1 external)
* phat video chip with 32-color 320x256 / 16-color 640x256 display
* an old-sk00l joystick and a mouse
* very nice sound output (don't remember exact specs, but it was much better than common soundblasters at that time)

that thing was known to mortals as Amiga 500

Do you really...

...have that little of a life? j/k

Okay, so I have a 900 MHz Athlon w/196 MB SDRAM (PC/133) (so sue me... I'm gonna upgrade it to a half gig soon enough since I have the money and I just have to get down there), an SBLive! (oh, I got suckered into that one - I thought it was a 32-bit sound card! Bleh...), a Voodoo3 3000 (don't even say anything... just shut up ), and everything else I have is integrated on board (NIC, etc.). It's nothing special, but it's fast enough for my tastes. Just need to change out the Voodoo3 because nobody writes 3dfx-supported programs and even with 900 MHz software rendering is pretty slow...

Yeah, so I'm behind in the times. Gimme a break; I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on cutting-edge hardware that'll be available at a fraction of the cost in a couple WEEKS...

I think I can beat that,
I have a 1983 IBM pc jr.
no hard drive
2 5 1/4 drives ( second one was an upgrade )
video card
12 inch monitor
had to use cartridges to run dos, (I don't remeber the name of the cartridge slots)

and this one still runs too. ( but WinAMP takes one week to start up on multiple disks hehe )

Trying to take over the world since 1981

I think mine is the best

I may not have the best computer, but who cares about the computer if you listen to audio files on the dinky little speakers that come with the computer. I have 233 mhz, 256 mb of ram, and plenty of harddrive space. I also bought a 3$ wire to hook up my computer to a 469 watt Dolby surround and Dolby Pro Logic system with a 450 watt self powered subwoofer. Currently I have seven speakers and a sub but I can't really get true surround because I have yet to find a winamp plug in that can do that. But i can still burn the mp3's to cd and enjoy the true surround. How sweet it is to have a seven speaker surround sound system with Dolby Pro Logic. I Hope I didn't brag too much. : )

I bought a pre-built from HP. All I've done is added more/new memory(the original had a bad chip anyway) and a new network card (today). It's a good system, but the case is teeny-tiny. I want a new case more than I want a GeForce 3 (ok, pretty close anyway.)

ASUS K7M mobo
900 mhz Athlon (the only thing faster was the 1 gig)
256 megs pc13312x DVD
8x CDRW
ZIP 100 (I added that too. What a waste of a slot.)
Super-neato-terrific floppy
Wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse.
17" monitor (it looks good though, and runs good refresh)
Soundblaster PCI 128 (it's decent, but not great) running into a 320 watt surround stereo

Win2K (Linux doesn't like my computer)

Built my newest box about two months ago, here she is:

-1.8 Gigahertz AthlonXP 2200+
-512 MB DDR (the fastest the mobo would hold)
-Gigabyte mobo w/ on board RAID/LAN/AUDIO (disabled)
-MSI GeForce4 Ti4400 w/ 3D shutterglasses
-SB Audigy w/ Live! optical/midi expansion card (strange, Creative doesn't tell you it works w/ the Audigy...)
-Enlight 350 Watt powersupply
-Enlight 7237 case (modded)
-Pioneer 12X DVD slot loader
-Plexwriter 10/24/40 cd burner
-2 40 gig IBM 7400 rpm drives
-3 80 mm fans, 1 feeding up through power supply, 1 out back, 1 intake.
-ZIP 250 (used once in a while)
-Sony 20" Flat Trinitron monitor (shes absolutely gorgeous!)
-Microsoft Internet keyboard (modded to glow)
-Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (v1, nicer for gaming, which you'll find me engaged in a lot)
-Windows XP SP1 (of course)

At school, the Audigy is run into Altec Lansing ADA880s, at home I have it hooked into a JVC 100 watt/channel 5.1 Dolby Digital receiver feeding Sony full range towers and a 120 watt JBL 10" sub. Winamp sounds quite nice at home, as does Unreal

Planned upgrades= convert current dual hdd setup to striped raid config, add additional 512 mb ram, Antec SOHO Filerserver case (that slotloader is one loud mofo!), Audigy Drive, digital fanbus.

I also have an Toshiba Satellite running @ ~25 MHz and MAC SE @ 8 MHz for those times when i just want to get back to my computing roots

Why having several 100 GB harddisk's when you can buy a cd burner?
Must be a pain in the ass to defragment those!
20 gig would be more than enough for me!
I have 8 gig and a burner.

its not a pain defraging any size hd,if you have a 100gig hd doesnt mean you defrag all 100gigs. just the space your occupy.
i have a 20gig hd and only using 6gigs it takes me only five minutes!

i'm using...
an Athlon TBird 1.2GHz (overclocked to 1.4GHz when i can be arsed)
KT7A-RAID Mobo (with about a million drivers and BIOS upgrades to make it work right)
GeForce4 Ti4200 64Mb (so i couldn't afford the extra 64Mb RAM, ok?)
Pioneer 106 (region free) dvd-rom drive
Philips 12x8x32 CD-RW drive
Videologic SonicFury sound (known as turtle beach santa cruz in the states)
some quite loud, nice-ish (for what they are) speakers. no sub
fans: 6 case + 1 processor + 1 PSU + 1 graphics card = 9
iiyama Vision Master 17 monitor (old, but still nice)
winTV card, modem (unused), and a Qnex NIC, connected to resnet, which is connected to EdLAN, which is edinburgh university's network. the router in my block's quite slow though, so i get a max d/l speed of about 300kB/s...
cherry keyboard, and one of those microsoft mice with the lights inside

all running win2k. all set up just they way i like it
