Most downloaded program ?

Just read this about WinZip : "with over 150 million downloads to date and an average of over 600,000 downloads per week in 2005".

Anyone know which is the most downloaded program ? I'm referring to applications not updates, drivers, fixes or operating systems.

Where can I get the download statistics for WinAmp ?

Thanks.

Each software distribution site has it's own stats. I don't know of an "across the board" record of download statistics.

For instance, c|net reports their top ten over the past ten years - in order - as ICQ, Winamp, Napster, Firefox, Winzip, iTunes, Ad-Aware, Skype, RealPlayer and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Someone at Winamp/NullSoft must know the number of times WA has been downloaded.

Mod : Please get those figures. Would be very interesting.

Thanks.

Not my job, Homer

Think about it. How do you track number of downloads for something that is not only available here on the homesite but numerous other sites?

It's somewhere between zero and lots, stick a pin in and you choose

According to CNET:

http://www.cnet.com/4520-11136_1-6257577-1.html

Winamp is #2.

And with the latest version, I think Winamp is "number two" as well, just for another reason

What about figures for the WA site only ? Hard to believe no one is keeping track. No bean counters at WA ?

I think it's more a case of "Does it matter enough to assign anyone to do this?"

WA might just be the "most downloaded program". Even though most of you, and surprisingly the mods, think it's unimportant I'm sure the marketing/pr/sales/ad guys at AOL/Nullsoft would think otherwise.

Somehow, I still believe this info is available at AOL/NS.

Did you try the "magic wand" selection tool in Photoshop? It usually does a pretty good job with abstract outlining.

I tried to, but it kept taking the colors of the llama apart as separate things, even after messing with it, or it would include too much background stuff, so I just traced.

I remember that a couple years ago. That was back when I barely knew how to work the "Paintbrush" tool in photoshop, I'd like to see it done again. Just so I could have another swing.

The best lame ads were created during the Great Sonique War, though...
