2.78 cddb problems
Hi. I upgraded to 2.78 the other day but now I'm having one problem. Whenever I put a audio cd into the drive, it autoplays but doesn't get the titles from gracenote. I right clicked on the files, choose file info and then cddb. The windows pops up and says not found. I thought maybe the 2 new cds i had just gotten weren't in the database, but I just tried 2 other older cd's that I know had worked before.
Thanks in advance for your help. |

You'd probably have got a quicker reply in the Tech Gen forum, because I wouldn't exactly class this as a bug . . . but then again, I haven't used the default cd plugin for years (I, like many others here, use CDReader), so I can't confirm if there's a problem with it or not. I'm not going to re-enable the plugin, but seeing you're the only one who's posted saying it isn't working, then I'm assuming that this can't be a bug.
Prefs -> Plugins -> Input -> CD Plugin -> config: First make sure auto cddb is enabled (cddb tab -> use cddb) Try changing the cddb address/server Default=cddb.cddb.com Others = us.cddb.com FreeDB More info: (?) http://www.gracenote.com/FAQs.html If you are behind a firewall then you need to get the system admin to enable the ports. RE: Problems with CDDB & proxy / firewalls [further tips] http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=31630 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=40240 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=32224 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=36677 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=57000 Naturally, providing all the relevant info first helps us better to help you. The relevant sticky threads at the top of the Bugs forum explain this clearly. If you require further assistance, please provide all relevant sys specs. I can't help you much more than this. btw, Did you get v2.78c, or just 2.78 2.78c includes some cd autoplay-related bugfix I all else fails: Basic Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=50818 Though, I recommend you switch to the CDReader plugin. Seems like there's some teething problems with this new CDDB2 function in 2.78 Please confirm whether the following files exist in your Winamp\Plugins dir: CDDBControlWinamp.dll (CDDB2 Control Library) CDDBUIWinamp.dll (CDDB2 User Interface) in_cdda.dll (Default Nullsoft CD Input plugin) in_cdda.cdb (Local CDDB Database) If not, then you'll have to reinstall Winamp. I can't help any more unless you answer all ^these^ questions. |

return to Winamp 2.77
![]() After installing Winamp 2.78 I found that I could no longer access CDDB, it returned an error message saying "CDDB not installed", I think the fault is from Gracenote but the result is the same: if you insert a CD Winamp won't read the titles. I also noticed strange pauses while reading an original CD. After trying different solutions I came to this conclusion: I've reinstalled version 2.77 you can find it in http://130.236.238.66/ I did it on top of old one and everything seems to work right It makes you think twice before upgrading ![]() |

I just had the same problem with CDDB using freedb using 2.78 which worked just yesterday. Doesn't automatically pull, tells me not installed when I try to get it manually.
Only intervening event was installing, then removing the CDReader plugin. Apparently, 2 CDs I own (MarcAnthony, Bjork Homogenic) have some copy protection that degrades digital playback. Has anyone else had this experience? Any fixes? I'm going to return these CDs for new copies hoping the whatever-it-is is a sampling install and will get copies without the defect. Any comment or info on either of these would be good. |

2.78 cddb problems
I think that the problem is not related with any copy protection as I actually copied the original cds without problems.
If someone else has the same problem please reply. |
