.wma renamed to .mp3
When i put a file from a cd onto my pc using windows media player, i rename the .wma to .mp3 and winamp won't play it, i'm assuming it's a bug because windows media player will play the file, although it does open a prompt saying that the file extension doesn't match the file format.
XP pro, sp2, winamp 5. Not sure about sound card, video card etc. |

Keep it as the original filename, in this case, '.wma'. WMA and MP3 are two different formats, there is no reason to rename the file extension. As long as you have the WMA plug-in installed (comes with Full), you should be able to play the WMAs fine.

I do actually have a reason for renaming it, but i would rather let winamp play it than leave it as .mp3.
I'll change it back, thanks. |

if it is a huge concern and while i wouldn't recomend it since you will get a huge loss in sound quality, you can convert the wma file to a mp3 with a converter.
When you take a hand and chop the fingers off... what do u get? That would be the knub. |
