Can't Sync Songs - Error: Could Not Create Folder on Device

Hi, I am trying to sync music on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus via USB cable. I am using the latest Winamp Version (5.623). Regular install. I've never had a problem before syncing on this same device, but I've deleted every song off my phone (rewrote the tags) and am now trying to drag my library back on to it. It's not a space issue, and there are no funny characters in the names. None of the songs will transfer. It will take a long time on a song that's transferring and then say "Error: Could Not Create Folder on Device" next to the song that could not transfer at the bottom of the list.

Listing of installed input plug-ins (in_*) and the relevent apis which they indicate that they
support to allow you to see how well the plug-in is likely to work with different Winamp builds.

Note: This is a best guess at how well the plug-ins shown should work with Winamp and until
you actually use the plug-ins with Winamp in normal use you will not otherwise know.

A * means the plug-in has support for metadata queries on a file (2.9+)
A # means the plug-in supports saving modified metadata via Winamp apis (2.9+)

Summary:

'One for Nunz' found 16 installed input plug-ins in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Plugins'
93% (15) of the plug-ins installed provide the needed 5.x api ("winampGetExtendedFileInfo(..)
or winampGetExtendedFileInfoW(..)") to allow the formats provided by the plug-ins to work with
most of Winamp 5.x's features (more important with higher versions).

Unicode Taskbar Compatibility Listing

The plug-ins listed below show references to the SetWindowLongA(..) OS api. If this api is used to
subclass Winamp's main window, it can cause Winamp's display of unicode text in the taskbar to fail.
For a plug-in to be compatible it needs to use the unicode version of the api - SetWindowLongW(..).

Being listed here does not mean a plug-in will cause the issue as there are legitimate reasons for
a plug-in to be using SetWindowLongA(..) but it is a good indicator for people who know which ones
are compatible to route out plug-ins which are likely to be causing the issue. Only those plug-ins
which do not also show references to the SetWindowLongW(..) OS api have been included in this list.

If you do experience the issue then there is a way to fix the plug-in(s) if the original author is
no longer supporting or around to fix the plug-in(s) to use SetWindowLongW(..) for the subclassing
by installing the Unicode Taskbar Fix from http://nunzioweb.com/daz/unicodetaskbarfix/index.html

Hi

What is your File Name Format specified as via:
Winamp > Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > Portables > Android Drive X: > Advanced tab?

(note, you can get there by right-clicking the Android Drive item in the ML tree, and selecting: Preferences)

Copy+paste the full string here.

If it is a Galaxy Nexus then there should not be an Advanced tab, as the GN supports MTP. I am having similar issues with my Xoom, running both Honeycomb and ICS.

Urgh, yeah, just been looking into it, and seems as though the Galaxy Nexus doesn't do USB Mass Storage.
Therefore, Winamp is possibly detecting it as a MTP / Plays4Sure device using pmp_p4s.dll, not pmp_android.dll

Like spetrillo says, the Format Info options in the Advanced tab are only there for devices handled by pmp_android & pmp_usb.

This could well prove to be a problem
We're looking into it....

EDIT

@MixedCalibur
Alas, there's nothing you can do about it at the moment (as far as Winamp is concerned).
You could petition Samsung/Google to only make Android devices which support usb mass storage mode in future (like all other Android devices).

EDIT #2

Re: other replies below...
Galaxy S2 / S3 models DO support usb mass storage mode.
The above applies to Galaxy Nexus ONLY.

Same problem here...
I've managed to sync one file after removing its publisher tag.

bump... Same problem... Would love to see this sorted, any update? Please....

I've a samsung galaxy S3

Note: Samsung is becoming the major model for Android phones so to make Winamp the de facto media management tool for Android phones, it would be great if anything could be done to help resolve this... much appreciated for any help.

Hi,

I am going to get Samsung S3 regardless of this situation in September. As of this year my music collection is finally a well organized FLAC archive with Winamp. Naturally, i want those files on my new phone, and hopefully it will be Winamp player on Samsung S3.

So, i give this thread a bump as well :-)

My question is weather files can be manually dragged to the phone, ( or put on micro card, and put into phone) and seen by Winamp?

Also, does album art show in this case?

thank you.

Milos

I just got the phone a few days ago.

if you do a "drag and drop" folder stuff for the music Poweramp or Winamp should be able to see the files (after a scan).

I just took my old SD card put it into my new phone and after a scan found everything.

Album Art seems fine also.

great, thank you. I'm intending to use it just like that. No syncing.

I have few more questions if you don't mind.

- are your files FLAC, WAV, or MP3?
- Does album art automatically pop up when you browse and click on the song.
- Are your music collection ripped on winamp, where album art is a separate jpag file?

thanks.

- mine are all "MP3".

- Mine seems to, not noted any problems so far...

- all my songs are MP3s ripped from CDs. I embed all artwork into the MP3s. I don't like having seperate Jpegs to the MP3s

thanks.
Before winamp, i used itunes for like 10 years, and all my mp3s had embedded album art. Now with winamp, i backed up all my music again with FLAC, and winamp automatically created m3u file with separate picture. I don't mind it because i made sure all my album art is at least 1400x1400 pixels.

I do foresee problems of players not seeing m3u file and not associating the jpag to songs in my future phone.

any thoughts on this?

dump all my folders with music to android phone, will it be generally able to read m3u file like winamp does on PC? Will winamp for android be able to when it comes to FLAC?

thanks
