I searched but still...
Yeah, I searched around and read up on stuff but I am very slow when it comes to fixing things and most times i need step by step instructions and like I finally got the DNAS server thingie to work sort of but when I connect it tells me:
<12/05/02@15:44:15> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 68.50.40.106:8000) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out) and like I don't know what I did exactly but I did something and now when I open the server it tells me: <12/05/02@16:12:01> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.8.9 (Mar 15 2002) starting up... <12/05/02@16:12:01> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <12/05/02@16:12:01> [main] initializing (usermax:10 portbase:8000)... <12/05/02@16:12:01> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <12/05/02@16:12:01> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <12/05/02@16:12:01> [main] opening source socket <12/05/02@16:12:02> [main] error opening source socket! Re: I searched but still...
Quote:
1) If 68.50.40.106 is not your IP then there is something down stream which the yp is picking up as your stream (i.e. web cache, proxy) so it is no wonder why it can find your stream there since it is not there. If this is the case setting Yport to 666 (i.e. Yport=666) in sc_serv.ini/sc_serv.conf should fix this problem. 2) You have a firewall that is blocking incoming requests and therefore the yp can not find your stream. The solution for this is to configure your firewall properly. Also note the Windows XP ships with a default firewall. 3) Finally if you are sharing an internet connection among several PCs you will need to properly configure the gateway device to forward the PortBase (by default 8000) to the proper machine on your LAN. Check the documentation for the gateway device for specifics on how to do this. Quote:

Two (or less) easy steps:
1. If you have a firewall, open the necessary port(s). 2. If you have a router, configure it to forward the necessary port(s) to the DNAS machine. Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: DNAS Stuff -> Errors -> Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out) Are the necessary ports open in your firewall and are they being forwarded to the DNAS machine? Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps. |

I have the same problem ( Cannot see your station/computer ) so I hope this thread is the right place to ask for help.
I have a little lan whit a linux box that acts as router/firewall: adsl | | linux | |----pc1 ( 8100 ) | |----pc2 ( 8200 ) I had forwarded (using iptables) port 8100:8101 and 8200:8200 to pc1 and pc2 and there shoutcast works fine. Today I've found a linux version and so I'd like to use only one shoutcast installed on the linux box. I've opened the ports 8010:8011 , clients connect to shoutcast but it give me the error " yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: X.Y.Z.W:8010)...) and it's my real public ip Can anyone help me? Thanks korth PS: sorry for my english ![]() |

He has a hub not a router. ICS is the NAT in this case and as such ICS will need to be configured to forward requests to the other machine.

I used analogX to forward port 8000. I now get a 404 error saying cannot see my station. I checked the radiotool box website and checked port 8000 and it says a server is running on 8000 so is there something else I'm missing?

Need Help
I've been at this all day. Just thought it'd be cool to see if I could play music over winamp onto another computer. I'd probably have something up and running by now if I didn't have a router. I'm so confused now I don't know where to begin. Can someone please email me at jtbaker_77@yahoo.com I have a SOHO Gateway router. The User's Manual doesn't help much. When I go to http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and type in my port (8000) it says my server is running.
Here's my most recent log: Event log: <06/28/03@00:32:53> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.2 (Nov 25 2002) starting up... <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] initializing (usermax:32 portbase:8000)... <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] opening source socket <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] source thread starting <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] opening client socket <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <06/28/03@00:32:53> [main] client main thread starting <06/28/03@00:32:53> [source] listening for connection on port 8001 <06/28/03@00:33:16> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <06/28/03@00:33:17> [source] icy-name:bash ; icy-genre:test <06/28/03@00:33:17> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com <06/28/03@00:33:17> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <06/28/03@00:33:22> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <06/28/03@00:33:22> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (404 Cannot see your station/computer from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache) By the way, if I ever did get this up and running, what the correct command to type in at the other end to listen? omg. How many people are just going to decide to never help themselves and read a little????
Help yourself and dont tell people to email YOU when YOU are wanting help. 1. Read the SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Here..need help? http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....threadid=70403 2. Scroll down until you see Routers, Firewalls, and Networks. Oh My! 3. Read, read, read, and then read some more. 4. Just before you go and ask another question that has been asked a million times before....read more. |

Never mind then. I started at 9 am yesterday, and kept reading and punching in different numbers until past midnight. I don't ask for help unless I'm really stuck, but I guess I can't get help on this board. Thanks anyway.

Searching the forums and reading README threads is a good place to get instant help.
Please be patient when posting a new thread. Two (or less) easy steps: 1. If you have a firewall, open the necessary port(s). 2.
