Jones, I believe you should start coding a clone Bot of you and install it as addon on the vbulletin on that section only to autoresponse to all those posts that their posters don't read the Sticky.....courage my friend.

If ALPINE should pay me or any other skinner be sure we would make that, if you can't live without it, then start learning how to skin from scratch and do it yourself

A good friend has a website as reference over here:
www.frisbeemonkey.com

Cheers

I don't normally do requests so this is not an invitation for all requestees

But I quite fancy doing a version of this (after ive completed RType (not long now - was put on backburner while RTG was being coded ))

looks a bit big tho but a mini mode would be sweet

I'm currently in design mode trying to come up with new ideas for skins but could do this inbetween, i'd prefer to do a mini mode version but will do this version 1st and if i have time or the inclination a mini mode

mail on its way tonite

just wondering Raczek, did you make the pic yourself? Because if I was a coder I wouldn't wanna touch any graphics without the permission of the author or the owner of the copyrights.

good point dude883
it looks like a photo of the player itself to me hence the request for it but i wont touch it if its already been done by another skinner?

if it hasnt been done already and this is a legit picture then there is nothing stopping people using it as a template to create new grfx with subtle differences for a new wa skin.

if it is coshure then it will have completely new grfx with no rips from the picture except as using the layout as a template for reference, i dont like to just copy and paste others grfx for my own, there would be no fun in that hence me offering to create a new one so that i can match the original with some subtle differences

lol Jones I wont dare ya lol

used original as reference only, couldnt resist it to create a replica!
Grfx are all new, fonts tbd, still wip

still a way to go - finish bits off, eq, std frame

When you are done, I have this great idea for a skin featuring Mickey Mouse, a giant tub of Swarfega and some hula dancing girls, shouldn't take you too long to do

99.9% of requests are futile

Mail has been sent to Alpine to make sure I'm not in infringement of any copyright to make this into a skin, my main aim was to make create a replica which I have done

if the permission is needed/granted result is successful then I'll spend the extra time to create the eq, std frame & get it into wa
until then...

as far as copyright goes its a touchy subject, I am not using the alpine 5 stripes or have alpine in the skin, the only reference is the 9831r which could be changed, however, it bears a striking resemblance to the pictured player hence the asking Alpine if this is infringement of copyright despite me making this from scratch but using their design as a template, its of no use to Alpine either as its virtual rather than a physical player.
I'm not one to word a mail as if they dont respond to my mail then i will release a skin, i would much rather prefer a yes or no answer or suggestions as to not be in breach of any copyright or better still an official endorsement or something lol
would be nice if this was brought to WA as a skin tho

SLoB you're right, from the otther hand, carlosp things doesn't work like that, if you don't get a response, wise would be to accept this as "NO" and not as "YES" running after that to find a lawyer (if they give a shit of course).

I think you should make it more unique, add your own graphical features and replace the logos with cooler looking stuff... unless you like alpine so much that you wanna promote them for free

Hmmm... looks a lot like my CDA-9815 (for obvious reasons, of course). When it's available, I'll probably make a long-term switch from the default Modern skin for the first time in a while. Normally I stick with the default or MMD3.

So did alpine say it was all good? i just saw the project is a go.
I wouldnt think they could say much anyway, its virtual and not for profit.... what would they sue for? free advertising.

It looks like its gonna be a cool skin, if you need some ideas in the mean time, i think using a candid pic of Bush acting the fool would make a realy cool skin

never got a reply from alpine in the end but thought sod it, its similar to their real player and ther aint no profit as you said, it can only be a good thing to promote a cool player, expect it sometime in the summer when i have the time to spend to complete it

i've got other ideas for skins too but not got the time atm, would be nice to give up the day job lol

You know what Jones. Everyone that want to post here, should have to answer 10 questions taken from the "Skin request sticky", and if you answer one of the wrong, get banned for a week ^^

That way you probably don't have to post that for every single time someone do a request. Except those who look for cooperators that is

thought I'd post a quick update

picked up the skin a few weeks back to start coding it

still a few bits left before i upload an alpha version

main mode complete
stick mode 75% done
windows 75% done
colour themes - zero atm
about page 0% done
configuration 60% done

when the alpha version is out i will provide the gammagroups, would be cool to get some themes from anyone, of course credit will be given
hopefully a week or so and it should be ready for some playing

working version in progress pic

cheers guys

I had a couple of ideas I was thinking of implementing, please give some feedback

Main Mode - to be stretchable (width only) to allow more buttons/visual space

-drawer on bottom to slide down to give options etc...

Weather widget type thing - working on similar principle to the cd cover on notifier (but would probably be in main display window and or small window)
would show temp, location, graphic icon, 5 day forcast and a few other bits of info

Custom Cursors - (seems like this was a reasonable idea but given the response on the poll i decided not to add it, altho was considering an easter egg type thing )

Stick Mode - to have drawer with pl
i do plan on adding a shade to the pl for those that like that feature
stick mode is already stretchable btw and the main button panel acts as a cycle thru available button selections allowing eq, ml, re,sh &xf buttons
eq will be in drawer on stick mode

Custom cursors sounds cool but I think they should be able to be turned off/on. Stretchable, I like that idea.

Drawer sounds cool, but I think it would be cool to put it up on the LCD instead, much like real car audio systems.

I can't wait to see this.

quick update
still got some things to complete but its useable

to-do
more config stuff (tips, update, custom crosshairs(maybe), etc..)
colour themes (thought about 8 gammagroups atm, yet to decide on exact amount, next version will see a few implemented and taking user themes)
bug fixes
bit more optimisation
there are a few custom animated vizzes (have reduced frames a lot but..), some feedback on what to keep/ditch would be welcome (to reduce filesize too)

any other ideas/features for a next version

I would appreciate any bugs, feature requests etc... TIA

grab Walpha_alpha003 Here
quick pic of main modes

no manual yet, but thers plenty of options here and there for stuff, have fun exploring, lots of right click options on buttons etc..

wow this skin is awesome. the only thing that i think is missing as of now ( i just got it ) is the things need to be dockable. well i see that it is but i would like to see it dockable from the top mabey even a gap in between the player and playlist editor?
