Ok kiddies, it's bitch time!
Goddamnit, I'm losing friends over this!
Who in movie history was the best Dracula?

Everyone I know (with the exeption of one guy saying Christopher Lee) says it's Bela Lugosi. I say it's Klaus Kinski in Werner Herzog's 1979 masterpiece "Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht". The only other person who comes close is the highly Gothic representation portrayed by Gary Oldman in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 version.

Bela Lugosi's Dracula is just too damn campy. Klaus Kinski, on the other hand, is genuinly weird and frightening person, something that most all other Draculas lack. He has the fantastic traditional look of Max Schreck's original Count Orlock, not the look of a $5.99 Halloween outfit.

I have seen the original one, I haven't seen one you are refering to, but I did
like interview with a vampire simply because
dracula was so "Jovial evil"
(My favorite type of evil! )

Xerxes
PS did boris karloff play in the early
"Phantom of the Opera" movie?

I am a complete idiot! Bela Lugosi, NOT Boris Karloff was Dracula. Edited for further clarifacation.

Anyway, the original 1925 Phantom of the Opera was Lon Chaney, not to be confused with Dick Cheney, equaly strange looking VP nominee.
"Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht" should be
available at any good video rental place.
And it's been playing off and on all month on the Independent Film Channel, if you've got cable. Roland Topor is also amazing as "Renfield", the mad laughter is quite memorable. I'd also reccomend anything by it's director, Werner Herzog, especialy "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" or "Fitzcarraldo" But I warn you, everything is subtitled!

Creature fromt the black lagoon, etc etc.
