Link to logs sent via PM, and new test build running (with portlegacy=0).

Thanks again,
Jeff

jeffy777: got the pm and it appears to be the issue i fixed from ToonRadio's build (order of messages is a bit different but it's going into the same code which was crashing) so *fingers crossed* that's the issue now resolved...

unless i messed up the upload - should report DNAS/win32 v2.1.0.45 when it starts up. if it's not then i can run off a newer test build from today's work.

edit
just checked the link i'd sent and it idents as DNAS/win32 v2.1.0.45 (Nov 24 2011) at the start of the log.

It's been 24 hours here and no crashes yet, so it's looking good. I'll keep you updated.

yay, that's good news to see after the weekend i've a feeling the cpu issue was from the wrong client handling which was also causing the crash. if you want to, you can disable / remove the debug config options and do a config reload via the server summary page to disable them and get a saner log file back (so you don't need to restart the DNAS unlike would be needed with the public build ).

I've had a quick look and it looks normal, in some cases when a client stops listening in won't terminate the connection cleanly which is what can lead to the timeout message (as all looked to be for client connections due to the DST prefix). i have toyed with the idea of making that message a debug only option but as it's shared with source and client connections i don't fancy complicating the logic handling so might leave it as is. So as long as it's followed by a client connection closed message then it is fine.

CPU usage is now back up to around 40-50% with about 300 listeners.......it's weird how it climbs up after the server has been running for a few days.

yeah indeed... and that's with the debugging options now disabled? i'm in the process of trying to run some longevity tests so am trying to see if i can reproduce any cpu increases that way as something has got be going on that i'm not seeing at the moment.

though i've been given the ok to drop one of the protocols the v2 DNAS supports which should shave a bit of CPU usage off the stream and client connection processing, but i'm not sure if that's going to help with the issue you're seeing.

at least it's not crashed which is better than it was doing beforehand which is something, but definitely not keen on it increasing in that manner. time to put the thinking hat back on...

I forgot to turn off the debugging options. I just did and it dropped the CPU usage down to about 20-35%, so that's better, but still higher than it was before today.

But you're right: at least it hasn't crashed

having the logging on will use more though i've a feeling it's possibly to do with the client stats tracking since that's one of the few things in place which will keep adding to itself which could cause it to take longer to process client requests, etc but i'm not 100% on that.

will try to have a play around with things and see if i can find anything for another test at some point next week (giving myself a bit of time since i'm somewhat busy on other areas at the moment).

Now it's lower again today, so it seems to have good days and not so good days, but as long as it's not crashing I'm happy at this point, but it's good to know you'll be looking into it.

i wonder if it might also be related to the types of clients which are connecting as to how they're interacting with the DNAS seeing as they all can implement handling in different ways so could be that some interact with the DNAS more leading to higher cpu usage per connection (was something that came up during a thinking session earlier today).
