Shuffle skipping songs...

My wife has a gen1 shuffle and lately (I think, at least she has only been complaining lately) it is skipping songs.

If you transfer them they all seem to go.
If you look at the files on the ipod, they all seem there.
If you look under Devices it shows all songs and you can play them.
If you transfer 20 songs, you might be able to pay 15. It is Always the same 15. I can delete everything and transfer the missing 5 and they will play so it doesn't seem to be a song issue.

All my music sits on a samba share in the basement, again, if I look on the shuffle I find all the songs, the number of mp3's seems to equal how many are there, it just skips them when playing back...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need to see files, let me know I can give a link to them.

Well, I think I have it working, here is what I had to do..

1. From WinAmp format the Shuffle
2. immediately close WinAmp and unplug and plug back in shuffle
3. iTunes will open, give it a name and go to the settings
4. check enable disk use and uncheck open iTunes
5. unplug again (just for checking) and close iTunes
6. plug in, open WinAmp and transfer songs

They are all playing now, maybe after I did the firmware update I didn't format with WinAmp, not sure, but the wife is happy again. All this then she gets her Nano on Christmas.

Cool. I think we should add this to the Wiki... there were other people with that strange problem, but no solution so far.

EDIT: I added it to the FAQ, http://www.joerobot.com/mlipodwiki/index.php?title=FAQ

WinAmp Pro 5.5 with ml_iPod 3.10 + dev.patches (download it)
