Finally

Hey hey hey...

I've been playing with milkdrop for almost a year now. I just got into milkdrop 2 a few months ago. Never thought of sharing my presets until uhhh... right about now.

Here are the ones which I feel are finished and more or less my own creations.

EDIT: oh no... wtf... didn't let me post the file...

Welcome!
It's nice to see more people finding their way here.

I'm not quite sure if it's intended or if it's just my graphic card acting up again, but quite a few of these seem really bright, to the point of just looking pure white.

For example, here's a picture of what the remixed lightning one looks like:

Afterflash is meant to look white in most of it. The "afterflash" is supposed to be the green that you see after a really bright light goes out.

ummm... that's not something I noticed when making them. can you give me some more examples?

I haven't seen it on any of my friend's computers either.

pointers, critique, praise, etc. for specific presets would be much appreciated.

Always nice to see fresh ideas... the charm about milkdrop is the sheer unlimited number of possibilities it offers and the chance for everybody to create new visual sensations.

The nebula appears to be a bit bright on my machine but I guess this is intended because all others look as if they were meant to be... no, wait, it just seems to slowly cycle between colours.
My favourite is the unstable sonic reactor, but the multi-planar voyage and Datura bloom are quite catching, too.

The lightning-afterflash remix is not green btw but basically white with a bluish or violet afterglow at the borders, on my GeForce 7600GT. Looks reasonable but not too exciting, because 80% of the screen below and above the horizontal centre line just remain black.

I don't think I chose the best way to explain that...

The afterflash remix includes the afterflash effect that lightning would have. It's an added effect. The original idea was to get something that looked like realistic lightning in a visualization.

I'm pretty limited on that one. The glow is a pixel shader effect so anything else on the screen will add a lot of unnecessary brightness.

I've got 2x7600GTs in my rig, so I doubt that that's the problem.

Are you on widescreen? I may just need to do an aspect ratio fix of some sort to add more effect to the screen.

ho HO!!!

I started playing around with it on fullscreen and realized that I hadn't deleted the original preset's per-frame code. I kept some of it and changed it around and got this:

OH NO!!! MORE!!!

I also realized that I hadn't done anything at all for the per-vertex so I started playing with different effects I'd used in other presets.

Here's one with the water effect from my molten wavepool presets and a radius dependent zoom effect.

I guess I just hadn't played around with this one enough yet. I'm getting some pretty nice effects out of it.

Here are 2 more that I finished up this morning. I'm pretty impressed with the way the lightning works with the various effects.

Tell me what you guys think:
