lagging/buffering issues

When playing songs it sometimes seems like Winamp is buffering for about 1-2seconds in the middle of a song. (it just freezes/pauses) This doesn't happen all the time but occationally.

This also happens sometimes when I start a song.

I use the computer and winamp when i DJ hockeygames, so it's important for me to be able to trust winamp to start/stop at the exact point i tell it to start/stop.

Please help..

Winamp 5.581 Clean install. No plugins
