The battery life on most phones are similar if you are using applications.

Try turning gps, wifi, bluetooth off when you are not using them.

Turn your battery settings to power saver mode.

In the next couple of months I will be looking for a new phone/carrier. Sprint is horrible out here. I'm thinking Galaxy S2 but not too sure yet. iPhone maybe?

My gf has the GS2 on Sprint. She loves it. I'm a WP user, myself (on AT&T unfortunately). I've got one of the WP7 launch phones (LG C-900, 2 years old now), and I'm still very pleased with it despite a few quirks. Can't wait to get the 7.8 update that's supposed to be rolling out soon. Some of the new WP8 sets that have come out recently look awesome, even though they lack a real keyboard. Hopefully someone will manufacture one by the time I'm ready to retire mine.

I have a 16GB S III that I bought for $150 at Walmart. Right now I pay $60/mo for 500 minutes + unlimited text & data (I have yet to hit any caps or throttling) with T-Mobile. I haven't had too many problems with it save for the memory card randomly dismounting on its own. Some of its gimmicky features are actually useful.

4G speeds are good considering that I'm 10 mi outside Phoenix. It's 2-3 times faster inside the city.

This is a sig of some nature.

I am leaning S2 so far. I can get it for ~$300 new without contract. If I don't get an S2 I'll be getting an HTC Wildfire S for $150. We'll see what the tax return brings in.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever see that update. Something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath. :|

I'm probably going to try the SevenEighter to update it.

Ran SevenEighter last night. Took about an hour, and my phone rebooted a lot, but it seems like it was successful. Hopefully I won't encounter any serious problems.

Suck my nads, AT&T.

Anybody know how much I could get for my old Evo? I'm thinking about $100-150.

Ever get anything for that Evo?

After three weeks of running WP7.8, haven't noticed any serious problems. Woo.

Nope. Only a couple strange emails and that was it. None replied back after hearing it's from Sprint. Might just use it for something else.

I think iPhone is still the best phone out there. The Android ones are giving chase, but it's still giving chase. I've had an iPhone 4 for a couple years. It's been a champ.

Sprint is horrible here too. I'm not out in the sticks. Sprint users have to go outside to make or get a phone call at my house.... again... in a medium sized city....

The best carrier, and the price reflects it, is Verizon. They are the phone company for 98% of the "B carrier" market in the country. If it works where you think it might not, it was likely Verizon.

In the remote places I have lived, AT&T has always had the best coverage, not that I'm saying that they're the best company overall in every respect. In isolated South Dakota towns, Iowa places, and now the mountains of West Virginia, it's AT&T or zero service, with no one else as a choice, unless they're using AT&T's gear.

Here if anything works, Verizon does. If you drive out to the coast about 100 miles from here, Verizon will have a 10 mile dead spot, where everything else has a 60 mile dead spot. You'll pay for that coverage. Verizon is good, but it's not cheap. T-mobile works pretty well in town for cheap. Sprint sucks. Cricket sucks and this is amazing. They actually put in a now defunct cell phone store here when they should have put in a tower.

First the tower.... then... the store... oops I think they closed it right before the lynch mob attacked.

Your first two sentences describe AT&T perfectly in the places I've lived, except that there's no coast. I have service in the town I live in with AT&T, but only phones using their towers work. After the first 7-8 minutes of driving in any direction, even those phones die. We're lucky in our school that we do not have cell service to distract the students. We do have strong wireless broadband, but a student would need a password to get on.

Don't forget to live before you die.

This year I opted for an iPhone 5C on T-mobile. I LOVE it. Smoother and it works. My S2 started having issues a few months ago and was bugging me silly. Kinda wish I hadn't updated to 7.1 and lost my jailbreak.

I have the HTC EVO 3D. Good phone for the most part especially after modifications (rooted, overclocked, custom rom). To address battery life I have a couple spare batteries and a wall charger. I just keep a spare battery in my back pocket ready to swap out when I need to. You can acquire spare batteries for less then $5 for the HTC EVO 4G. You can also acquire larger batteries with a new back so you do not have to swap, though it does add a good bit of bulk to the phone.

I still like Android for the 3rd party app support(side load) without the need to root. Android got kind of annoying because of all the ROM choices and the "itch" for that new ROM with new crap to tweak.

I foolishly updated to 7.1 and lost my jailbreak though. Only thing I jailbroke for was unlimited Pandora and iTunes radio skips and no ads.

I actually had to buy a new battery because the original wouldn't hold a charge any more. I ended up with 2 batteries and a charger for about $10 shipped.
