Why would you have a desktop with KDE on it in Windows?

3MP version of the image used.
(the extra "sky" in the wallpaper was made with the Gimp (simply stretched the top part))

Ha, I deleted everything from my desktop before making the picture. Junk, that's what ends up there!

Everything from mine goes into the "shit" folder then the cycle starts all over again.

I never put stuff on the desktop (but you don't want to know what eg. my downloads folder looks like).

I usually keep everything clean on my desktop because when I log off the network it syncs with the server, it's a pain to copy all those files...

Mine went in the "trash", which I feel is the more-honest-with-myself version of the "shit" folder. And then I just dropped it.

I guess that would be. I don't think I keep any files that are important to me whatsoever in a digital formta. I suppose that's the perils of understanding technology.

I just looked at my profile on the server, 56.2MB, not bad. All of that is my application data, desktop files, etc. I don't keep my music or anything else on my desktop anymore, it's all server side. It's actually nice, I can reformat a pc and once my drivers are set just log in all my files & settings are back. I also use DriveXML to back up my fresh installs of windows with my programs, ideally, I can restore my windows back to a working state and log in and have no data lose. It's pretty nice.

Chopped, dropped, and ready to rock!

Why the spartanism, and why so many maintenance utilities close at hand? I do a lot of peripheral testing on this machine for one of my businesses, so the ability to launch system cleanup and configuration apps in one click is very handy. And Aero is not always worth THREE HUNDRED MEGABYTES of system memory. Pretty counts sometimes, but not always.

PNG may not have come out smaller than even a Q 100 JPEG for the images with lots of icons as they will have many unique colours but the first certainly does.

Here is mine:

1280 x 1024 px, 107 KiB

Very plain as well and awfully tidy for my desktop despite the fact that I have a separate downloads folder.

I couldn't stand the arrows on all of the shortcuts I'm seeing. I had to get rid of them when I was using desktop icons. The desktop just looks more "finished" that way.

And what's with all the skinny task bars? When I hit middle age I decided to have more girth. Rubbed a little Maxoderm on it, and viola! FAT BAR, BABY!

But I'm not coming down on anyone else here. It's not how big your bar is, after all, it's how you use it. Mine gets used a LOT. It's got re-dried scabs on it from years of continual activity. And now that it's this big, I'm using it even more.

I still go for the black background and under 10 icons. On the second monitor, nothing at all!
