I uninstalled and installed version 5.572 (from Jan 2010) and it works again... If useful I can see if this works in 5.58 to verify 5.6 broke this?

Works fine for me... make sure you have transcoding enabled in the preferences. It's off by default. |

DJ Egg thanks for your answer, but it still doesn't work. Probably I have three solutions - make a clean install of winamp and try again, copy all music from ipoop to itunes and try to sync it, and the most logical - throw away ipoop and try to find 32gb microsd card for my android phone. BTW DJ Egg could please post .dll for ipoop from pre winamp 5.6, I want to see what happens, maybe it gonna work for me or is it incompatible with 5.6?

Hmm... strange.... Please could you do as djohnson123 did and use the ipod_sysinfo tool to generate an ipod.xml file and attach it here. See this post by Benski from page 1 of this thread for info/instructions: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....51#post2724251 |

Sorry it took me so long. I've tried that you have suggested me, but it doesn't seem to work for me, probably I'm doing something wrong. I have included a screenshot. Anyway I believe the file which this "ipod_sysinfo" should scan is located on iPoop in iPod_Control\Device folder. I've found file named "SysInfo" and its size is 0kb so probably it's corrupt. Maybe Akirasoft is right and this problem is related to 120gb 6th generation iPoops. Also if everything fails gonna try to uninstall 5.6 and try previous version see if it helps.

@vwkaferman and everyone else having the "No Music On iPod problem..."
i had this problem and installed 5.601 (not clean, updated from 5.5) I own a 6th Gen 160GB iPod Classic. 1. Try uninstalling (see here if you need to backup anything first) 2. Delete the Winamp folder 3. Download installer from Winamp.com 4. Then re-install. Fixed my problem. |

Tried all of that. Dead in the water. The 3 hour flight in a few days without music is gonna be awesome.
Still the same, winamp can see music, disconnect ipod, no go, as if that should matter. I have never used Winamp to sync music or connect my ipod or anything. Sure wish I had never used Winamp to play songs directly from ipod. Oh well. James |

Tried spyder2314's method also didn't help me, but I've managed to "repair" my diePod. What I did is this: I just transferred music via Winamp, then disconnected and voila, diePod once again saw music.

Yay! That's good news! Phew.... @vwkaferman If the music on the iPod isn't stored anywhere else, maybe try copying it to your hard drive with Winamp (go to: Prefs -> Portables to set the folder, then select all tracks in iPod view -> Copy to Local Media) then transfer it back to the iPod... |

I think there may still be an issue here.
Winamp 5.601, pmp_ipod 0.81, Ipod Classic 6g 160Gb fully up to date. Most of the time everything is fine. Occasionally ejecting, or just removing, the iPod shows no music. Transfer one song, eject, all the music is back again. I think I've seen a time when all I did was connect the ipod and disconnect it and all music was gone. The only thing to happen in between is winamp reading the library. |

I'm having this issue as well. Winamp is a clean install, blah blah blah. I have a 120GB classic (not sure which generation though? although that really shouldn't matter in this case).
I have to add music or delete music every time I open it in Winamp just to use the damn thing. It's getting very annoying, and I don't want to switch back to iTunes. |

I have a Nano 4g I've had the same problem since 5.6 beta, but I've found if I just replace the pmp_ipod.dll file with the one from 5.58, almost everything works fine, and I can fix the "No Music Found" issue by just adding or removing a song using the older plugin.
I say "almost everything" works because it seems my Andriod phone no longer shows up via WiFi, which was the whole reason I had been eager to get 5.6 in the first place. However I'm not overly upset about this, because I've become convinced (albeit with absolutely no evidence to prove it) that the constant refreshing of the music on my phone by Winamp on my desktop was taking a toll on the phones battery. |

After several attempts, carefully following all the instructions above, I had to completely uninstall Winamp and reinstall a previous version (now using 5.58) to use with my iPod Nano 8G. I have decided to wait until the bugs are fixed.

i thought it was more a typo of 5G for the model generation though i really didn't think 5G will works (thought it requires some sort of sql handled db format which Winamp doesn't do / know about). but then again i've never really payed too much attention to iPod stuff other than seeing people moaning iTunes / firmware updates have broken things again, etc.

Bump. This is still a problem.
Windows 7, Winamp 5.601, pmp_ipod 0.81, Ipod Classic 6g 160Gb fully up to date firmware. Attach iPod with winamp running. Music on iPod appears in winamp. Hit winamp eject button, iPod says 0 songs. Attach iPod. delete one song in winamp. re-sync to replace that one song. hit winamp eject button. All music now back on ipod. Attach ipod without winamp running, disconnect, all the music is still there. |

To Sinatra, no I did not make it work. I got my iPod Nano 8G a few years ago. I always used it with Winamp (been a Winamp user forever). Only since update 5.6 I've been experiencing problems. I tried all the updates suggested in this thread - to no avail.
To jbond23, I tried a few things that worked - like hard copying the "music" directory before running my iPod thru Winamp and "transferring" only one song from my laptop to Winamp seemed also to restore the music. I must say I input music in my iPod at home and listen to it driving to and from work, and thru Winamp on my laptop at work. I noticed the problem when ejecting the iPod after my day's work. Platform has no bearing - Win7 at home, XP at work. The problem really is with Winamp. Got rid of the problem when I reinstalled an earlier version (5.8) of Winamp. Will wait for update - hopefully bugs will be fixed soon. Still, Winamp is the best!! |

Closing WinAmp with iPod Attached
I've had the same issue with my iPod (3G Nano) reporting "No Music", yet WinAmp reporting it's all there.
I have upgraded to the v5.601 (x86) Dec 9th, and I have found that I still have trouble if I don't eject the iPod before closing WinAmp. I have accidentally done this a couple of times (and I did it all the time w/o issue using iTunes), because I leave the iPod on the USB to charge. Can WinAmp be fixed to auto-magically eject connected devices before closing? Thanks, Mike PS - I would also like to request that ANY updated versions of WinAmp be assigned a new number. I have had the "missing music" issue, and have been religiously checking WinAmp's download page for a new version, believing that I had the latest & greatest (winamp5601_pro_en-us.exe), because I didn't know there were multiple versions with different dates. |

To misterreed: Just so you know, you can close Winamp and eject your iPod through your Windows Explorer if you wish, just so long as you eject it properly (as recommended). The problem, in fact, only seems to occur if you have used Winamp to play back the files that you transferred on it. I could use my iPod in the car without any problems after transferring files via Winamp. The problem occurs only when I use my iPod to play back files on my computer at work, not after transferring files to it. That's why "transferring" one music file to it before ejecting seems to restore the iPod database.

What's slightly weird about this is there's no write messages to the iPod. It should just be reading the database not writing to it. So it's hard to see why it's getting corrupted. |

To jbon23: Yes, with version 5.6 and up, Winamp syncs the iPod even though the settings are otherwise. That seems to be the core of the problem, in fact. Winamp IS writing to the database when it shouldn't. I'm convinced the Winamp coders are hard at work correcting that.

To DJ Egg: Seems to work perfectly!!! I re-installed version 5.601, applied the pmp ipod update you enclosed in your message, played a song, ejected my iPod and it worked!
Thanks!! Keep up the good work! Winamp is the best. |

DJ Egg,
Thank you SO much. I applied your update and tested a number of different disconnect scenarios. So far, I have not run into the "No Music" error (even when I forget select "Eject" form WinAmp or Windows). Thanks again for all your work! |

@Juanus
If you weren't experiencing any problems with pmp_ipod v0.81 from Winamp 5.601 then you should stick with that version. This test version of pmp_ipod v0.82 was intended just for people who are experiencing the "no music shown on ipod after eject" problem with Winamp 5,601/pmp_ipod v0.81 @misterreed Hmm, not good :-( This will most certainly need looking into... So it worked okay for the first few times (or just once?) and then the crash started occuring on subsequent attempts? @Juanus Are you getting the same crash as misterreed? |

@DJ Egg
Transferring music never worked. Since appying the patch, it has crashed everytime I've tried to transfer music. I was so focused on testing the connecting/disconnecting, that I didn't get around to testing it until after my initial reply. :-( Here is my basic info: - Windows XP SP3 - WinAmp v5.601 (x86) Dec 9th with pmp_ipod_update.exe applied - iPod (3G Nano) Let me know if you would like further information. Thanks for all your work! |
