Don't post the entire lyrics of course, but what are your favorite lyrics from a song?

I dislike lyrics mainly because uh, I prefer the music. :P

But, of course, I'd say tool.

"there was nothing remotely romantic about it. no hand-me-down sob-stories, either nurtured or genetic. so what was so goddamn important that i felt i had to shelve each and every one of my convictions? secured and mutually reassured of our consistency. but your defence rejects what (you claim) you believe. because what the fuck is so "sociable" about animal-confinement and torture, union busting, sexism and isn't strange how you don't call anymore?"

Tool - Parabola

Quote:
Twirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

Lyrics are a small part of why I listen to music.
A new favorite of mine is typified by it's catchy beat. After I fall in love with the basic format, I usually go find the lyrics, then adjust my fondness accordingly. The initial sound is what gets my blood pumping, which is a great example of why I love Tool.

I think lyrics are about half as important as the song itself.

Anyhow, Rammstein - Eifersucht in both Deutsch and English.

The integrity of the actual music, not the lyrics is what I care about. There are instances in choral music though where large groups of people are actually in a way "transformed" into the instruments- and in that case lyrics often matter tremendously.

But aside from that- my favorite lyrics are"
The phantom of the opera- past the point of no return"
Quote:
Past the point of no return:
The final threshold;
The bridge is crossed,
so stand, and watch it burn;
We've past the point of no return!

Now is the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of their Country

In that case, the words are less important than the sound.

i know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but does anyone else here think that a girl is trying to tell you something when she teaches you to say that?

and sometimes lyrics can be very important to a song (ie, sober by tool), other times they would just mess it up (ie the badger by the teaparty)

Anacific, those are the exact same lyrics that are my favorite at the moment.

And Kevin, what is wrong with SongMeanings? Nothing but database errors here.

In support of aggressive sex with llamas, and freedom from the obligation to explain.

I wouldn't dare use those words. Why? Because everybody around here is either french-speaking, or knows at the very least that much french

Sublime - Pool Shark

Lying in my plastic bed
Thinking how thinking how things wern't so cool me
My baby likes to shoot pool
I like lying naked in my bedroom
Tying off that dinosaur tonight
It used to be so cool
Now I've got the needle
I can shake
But I can't bleed
Take it away, but I want more and more
One day I'm gonna lose the war
