Syn flood??

I'm seeing this message in dmesg on my shoutcast server. (32 bit Ubuntu 12.04 shoutcast DNAS version 2.2.1)

TCP: Possible SYN flooding on port 8000. Sending cookies. Check SNMP counters.

I added
net.ipv4.tcp_syncookies = 1
to sysctrl.conf - but still see this message

I know that these "Possible SYN flooding" message can be false positive on systems with lots of connections being made- but, should I do something about this?
