Is the skinning plugin now frozen? So that all skinners can start to update their skins? I see in the changelog: "Final Skin Drop"

Who can tell?

Yes, it was meant to be. But I guess nothing is 100% final until 5.0 Final.
Depends on what bugs are unearthed...

A suggestion for the Final version. There needs to be some way to rate the currently playing file without having to go navigate to it in the media library. Perhaps a menu option for the rating?

Is there a track change notification feature for when you're running a classic skin?

edit:
oops i just realized, it's probably in the Winamp Agent (which i never install) ha!

No, the track change notification is not available for wa2 skins. it is a skin feature, not winamp feature.

One other issue. edit: ok, maybe 2.

The width of the pop-up notifications seems to be dependent upon the length of the song title + song time down to a certain minimum. However, how about this scenario:

Say I'm playing a song with a really short title ("1", for example), with an artist of "2". So, the string should be "2 - 1 (X:XX)", where X:XX is the time. Now, pause the song, and then unpause it. The pop-up notification that appears when you unpause the song has the two parts of the top line ("34/60" and "Resuming playback") overlapping each other. It seems like the notification pop-up box should resize depending on not just the song name line, but any line, so that overlaps are impossible.

Also, say I'm playing a song and I edit the info, changing name and artist, for example. Then, if I go and pause and then unpause the song, the pop-up notification that appears when I unpause the song still has the old info in it, not the updated song name and artist, like it should.

My skins: Sony MPFX3-WA5 (Just for WA 5.x!!) and Sony MPFX3.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

Nice improvements over B2, and I have to say that the UI facelift is well worth it -- the familiar winamp UI we know and love is sadly a bit dated, so its nice to have a fresh look... and of course some fresh features.

Actually, some real detailed hover tooltips would be handy -- making it easier to understand the button I'm pressing

Also, the bottom line of the pop-up notification is slightly cut-off along its bottom edge (like the tail of a "g" is cut off).

I really like the new view editor in the ML, too! Keep up all the good work, guys, this is absolutely awesome!!

This is what I've dreamed WA could be ever since I started using it.

Now, if you could only get mass importing of playlists in the ML.

Hmmm...If I change the text scroll speed in the Modern Skin options, the text stops scrolling completely in the songinfo area until I click on it or grab and move the text.

This is so impressive. Latest build is just great, oozing with quality. I'm about ready to pay for pro just to support nullsoft so that winamp5 keeps getting better and better.

@ DJ Egg

My settings are fine, I have attached a pic for reference,

If I have opacity set to hover, and I put my mouse pointer in the msn window (all windows have the same effect.) in the same area that winamp accupies behind the msn window, winamp fades back.

This isn;t a big deal to me. I just changed to "focus" instead of "hover". I was just curious as to weather that was a intended behavour. The way I see it, only visible reagions of winamp should be affected by the "hover" option. Or perhaps that a pain in the ass to or would be to demanding of system resources.

Why make something idiot proof?? Someone will only make a better idiot!

Yeah, maybe... but the Ratings thing is a feature of the library plugin.
I guess it wouldn't be impossible to add it to entry's right click context menu in PE, but only if there's an option to enable/disable. Not all people will want/use ratings.

For now, the easiest way is: Library -> Recently Played
The currently playing track will be at the top of the list
(though, if Recently Played is active, it only refreshes when you change view and navigate back).

I'm on a Mac at the moment, so I can't check out RC8 right now, but it all sounds great. Does it support WACs yet? Can I install my FLAC decoder now, or has that not yet been implemented?

Thanks!

Winamp doesn't support WAC's. That was a Winamp3 thing (components), not a Winamp thing (plugins).

The FLAC plugins for Winamp (2.x | 5.x) are here (you have a choice):

1) http://x-fixer.narod*****progs/

I have over 30,000 MP3s so it takes quite a bit longer here. Not a complaint, mind you, its still very fast. I absolutely love the ML.

I love the new plugins too, except that in the tray control the order of the buttons is:
Next : Stop : Play : Previous

And I would prefer they were in the order they are in the modern skin,
Previous: Play : Stop : Next

I have tried turning them on in the correct order but it does nothing. Anyway, the new plugins are awesome, the ML is amazing, and Winamp 5 rocks! Thank you so much Nullsoft!

Heres a suggestion (I know its an RC, but just listen).

I love having position, size, opacity, and everything unlinked between the main view and the windowshade mode...could we have "Always on Top" status unlinked? When my winamp is in windowshade, I always have it always on top and throw the bar at the top of my screen. But when I switch to the main window, I do not want that monstrosity on top.

Hi DJ Egg,

The FLAC plugin didn't work. Winamp5 wouldn't recognize it. I thought there had been a mention of WASABI support? I guess I was crazy!

I have a couple of complaints with RC8, which I just tried out. The Sonic CD engine hasn't changed at all -- it still blips when I change the track position or when it changes tracks (when one track goes into the next). So I'm using the ASPI driver which works fine, but not everyone has that...

Also I think "Cleanup Media Library" was a better title than "Remove missing files from Media Library". If I simply change the artist ID3 tags to something else, "Cleanup Media Library" is more appropriate than "Remove files", because I'm not removing anything. Does anyone have any other ideas regarding that?

Another thing: I think the "Add Media to Library" box should be a standard Windows explorer box (open and save type) instead of a directory browser, because then you can add individual files without bringing up a separate explorer window. Also you can select multiple directories at once that way.

One bug: if I bring up the "Edit Selected Items" box and then close it, there are sometimes redrawing issues in the ML. That wasn't in Beta 2.

I think that's about it; I like the fact you can now rearrange columns in the ML. I also LOVE the fact you can edit ID3 tags all at once to multiple files without changing every single one individually. Great feature!

Keep up the good work! You guys are doing a great job!

@swhite

There's two command options in the Library button menu
1) Remove missing files
2) Rescan media folders in background

Also, Sonic CD Engine works perfectly for me.
Not sure what's going wrong there....
Maybe you need to increase Buffer-ahead value a bit more?
At least wnaspi32 works for you anyway.

btw, I've also noticed *that* with "Edit Items" box.
Doesn't happen if I move it away from on top of library...
but otherwise, every now and then, there's definitely
some kinda weird redraw issue going on there.
To fix, just click another artist/album in top left/right pane.
Unless EVERYONE can reproduce it, then it could be a video driver related bug, not sure...

Hmmm...well...the font is specified as Arial in the xml file...so you could theoretically do a font substitution for Arial in Preferences -> Modern Skins -> Font Rendering -> Use skin font mapper. And you could map Arial to a different font. Besides that, you could simply go into the xml file and change it.
