My First Spam

I just got the first peice of spam in my gmail inbox (6+ Months). How has your gmail done in keeping spam out and letting the good mail in?

I got what I think was a spam message. It wasn't advertising anything, but it was unwanted mail from an unknown sender, so I considered it as spam.

I got one the other day as well.

About 6 in total in just under a year + about 5 that it thought were spams but in truth were not, they were things like forum registration sign ups and so on.

Still, pretty decent considering I manage about 2500+ a week in my ISP mailbox, even with all the spam filters turned on....

I've only had 'intentional' spam. I set up a gmail account last year when I decided to bait Nigerian mail scammers for a laugh. Just left my email address in a few guestbooks and now I can't get rid of the gits. I checked the account the other day for the first time in months. there were 275 in the main box and 979 in the spam box.

I have a spam filter on my computer (I don't have any spam filter at the server level) and it is really good at blocking all my spam. I do get some false positives and negatives, but it can be retrained and fixed. However, most of my email is all spam anyways, so it doesn't matter.

Website

Yeah, that's pretty much it. :-\

It does a pretty good job, it usually takes care of the spammiest of the spam. I am using it as a spam bucket though, so my experience is a little different.

My only spam so far was trying to sell me a refrigerator.

One click, and it's off to the spam world.
