The Ashes

Yes, folks, it's that time of year when we (the rest of the world) sit on the sidelines in dazed confusion and watch the Brits and Aussies just ream each other.

So, who'll bring home the Ashes?

I mistook this thread for "The Asses" and was thinking Thong II but then I thought it was about how they're going to fire Hunter S. Thompson's ashes via howitzer into the skies over Aspen

Sad but probably true, although I had hoped England might be in good form this year, it certainly looked like it after Australias first innings, but as usual the English batting collapse appeared, an almost traditional event.

For all you non Anglo type people..

Symple rule of thumb with the ashes, Bet on the Ausies and you win, bet on our lot and you lose.
Its as easy as that.

oh and vie, that rule esp. applies to this match, cause we haven't lost at lords since 1934, way back when bradman was in the team.

Everyone knows that we're better than our largest former prison. We just have to let them win sometimes as it's sporting.

(actually, that's bollocks, we're crap and we know we are, we're crap and we know we are...!)

I think it was just the old Lords curse come back to haunt us, coupled with some really curious tactics in our second innings. I believe that we will come back stronger in the remiaining tests.

Kickass, we won the second innings. I watched the highlights of the end of yesterday's game and even though i knew the score i was getting nervous.

Amazing play.

Hugh's got ShyShy almost completely converted into a British and Aussie sporting zeolot. I'll bet she's even calling soccer "football" now.

Hurry, we gotta get her outta the house quick and force feed her a batch of NFL, NBA and MLB games before it's too late.

Somebody distract Hugh...I'll grab her and run!

Well, why wouldn't she be calling it that?, I mean after all, that's what it's called in the country that it originated in, that's what the correct name for the game that you use your 'foot' to kick a 'ball', see it's easy when you break it down.....

The coolest hand signals I've ever seen from a ref.
The HAIYA! double thrusts into the air when a ?touchdown? is scored.
ESPN used to play the games all the time back when you bitches were in diapers.

Weren't the ashes kidnapped by little flying robots because they were needed to reassemble some humongous galactic demensional key? That's exactly what happened! Ford Perfect and Arthur Dent saw it! They were sitting on a couch! I swear!

A touchdown. That umpire is a pretty wierd man with his signals but it gets the crowd enjoying it more.

Strange thread, starts off about cricket and ends up about kickball.

You can always tell the Aussies up on the common, they're the ones charging about like maniacs chasing a funny shaped ball. No one else is mad enough to run around in the sun, the average Brit may flip the occaisional frisbee for a couple of minutes, but soon goes back to sitting in the shade
