MIDI File Info Crash (other workaround?)

Quote:
- Winamp crashes when you view file info for any MIDI file.
Workaround fix: Checkmark "Display RMI info dialog by default" in in_midi config
I work with midis a lot and this bug happens to me WAYY too often, it's rather disappointing that Winamp at such a high release version has such a blatant bug...

I know there's the RMI info workaround, but I don't want to see the RMI info, it's of no use to me!

Does anybody know of any other way to fix the bug or another workaround?

Sigh.... I wanted Winamp 2.90 to be my final Winamp version that I would have to download for a LONG time, because of its nice, round, "2.90" version number. Heh. Looks like that I'll have to upgrade AGAIN. Pueh. Oh well.

2.90?
2.91 has been out for over a month.

Read more about 2.9x and the future here:

Yes, I've read all about that. I've posted my questions/opinions/comments in the threads too.

And I didn't update to 2.91 because, like I mentioned, I liked the "nice, round version number". Not that 2.91 would fix the MIDI File Info bug, anyways, according to the Official Winamp 2.x Bug List Thread.

The Winamp 2.92 Release Candidate 1 from winamp heaven doesn't fix this BUG! NGYAH!!

If that's a release candidate, then I'm wondering where's Nullsoft's quality control!

Hmm, that's weird, 'cos it's definitely fixed in the 2.92 version I'm using.

the normal fileinfo box doesn't come up at all here (april 1st build), only the rmi info box if that option is checked

no crashes though

April 1st build?
It's a known 2.91 bug
but it's fixed in the 2nd June version of 2.92 (rc1)

Really !?!?
Oh Jeez, that's all we need!

Hang on a mo . . . are you sure LK?
2.91 was released April 17th

Latest (internal) build of 2.92 is dated June 2nd.

Now I'm really confused . . .
is this some kind of belated April Fools Day joke or something?

hmm, it seems that you reintroduced (was fixed in 3.01) the no-device-selected-by-default bug

i still get no fileinfo box, must be win95b related - i did get a crashing infobox box on win2k before, too

I don't have 3.01 sources, and the infobox fix was submitted to Christophe.

http://foobar2000.org/in_midi.dll

seems to have screwed my Winamp.

And all these Winamp versions confuse the hell out of me. I'm just going to wait for the final release of 2.92 and hope that the bug is fixed.

Then install this - http://evildildo.com/blah/in_midi.dll - based on the dll from 2.91, with infobox fix applied.
And please no whining about "this dll seems to have screwed my winamp", if you just can't get yourself to provide any useful info, go somewhere else, or at least don't expect us to fix issues after getting this kind of "user feedback".

Not whining, really... sorry if I didn't really provide user feedback. I thought I made it clear that I was just going to forget about fixing the bug and I'll simply wait and hope it's fixed in 2.92...

Well, I decided to try the dll fix anyways, and yes, thanks... it's fine now.

Just wondering, though... did this midi file info crash bug only occur beginning with Winamp 2.90? Or was it present in previous versions of Winamp as well?

I think it appeared with 2.90 . . . not sure though, heh.

btw, PP, if you ever get to see this again, there's still another minor midi related problem which needs fixing. Seeking with right cursor keeps on going past end of song (timer keeps counting, no playlist advance). Easily reproducable with any midi file, and any midi device (though with "DM / MS Synth with Output" selected, the timer doesn't continue infinitely).
This is similar to old pre 2.7x out_ds.dll "bug", yes?
