Background music

I want music to play in the background while I am doing live audio feeds, but my test audience said that when I was talking there was no music at all in the background, even though I had something playing (obviously). How can I get music to play in the background while I am broadcasting a show?

What type of program r u using? ie Sam2, winamp with shoutcast?

What exactly are they saying on not hearing your background music, it depends if you are muting it while talking or talking and have music but they can't hear it only you can.

If you are using Sam2, all you have to do is have the background music for example:Pink Panther, all you have to do is turn your mic on and start talking and its almost same with winamp with shoutcast

I am using Shoutcast. I think the reason it doesn't work though is because I use a USB headset as a mic and a soundcard to play the music, so it's not mixing together. I could be wrong but I haven't found anything that helps with this issue.

HeatherS78 didn't offer SHOUTcast as an option. Asuming you are using these boards that you are using the shoutcast server. You will need a client program such as SAM2 or Winamp... If you don't have the money Winamp is your prefered method. You will then need to go to shoutcast.com -> downloads -> be a dj. then download the plugin. There are various settings in setting the mic from there.

Um... yeah... I already have everything I need; the server, and the winamp DSP plug-in. What I mean is that when I am using the soundcard input so I can use my mic and talk over the air, there's no music playing in the background, and it's probably because I am using a USB mic and not a mic that plugs into my soundcard.

I want background music while I am doing voice stuff, and that is my problem. Nothing else I have found on the site helps, though a few other people have asked (with no answer) to the USB mic situation.

set your recording options to "what you hear" or stereo mix and then you'll have to manually play with the volume levels.

or you could go buy a mic that plugs into the soundcard...

there's no quick fix solution...
