Teh Fastest Speed

Maybe not done for awhile?

Finally after many moons and tribulations of slow dial up speeds, erratic and intermittent broadband speeds, sometimes slower that dial up.. I finally have a decent connection speed...

How fast you guys have? hmm unlimited broadband - maybe I can finally run my radio..... hmm

My internet is very laggy today, and it also won't work with the upload test for some reason; but I got 9448kbps for download.

It's a little slower than usual today.... laggy... Hey. mikm?. What are you using?. 6 megabits of uplink is impressive. I'm using the low-speed verizon FIOS offering. Of course, the bill jumps from $40 to $150 to double the speed.

I'm within 95% of advertised speed so I guess I can't complain. rockouthippie the ISP is listed on the lower right so it looks like mikm is on the Universities network... ah those were the days.

I noticed that this speed test's servers aren't the same.
They recommend that I use Salt Lake City but it shows MUCH slower speeds there than the further server I used.

just used the same place most of you guys have

server: Dublin

About the same as Blacknights...

edit: yeah I've just messed about using a couple of different servers - seems the lower your ping rate - the better connection[?] If I connect to the Amsterdam one I'm getting plus 1.7megs download....

My college internet is so saturated with filesharing and online gaming, it's not even funny. Some days I'm only getting a few hundred kbps it's so bad... But others, I'm pushing 20mbps... just all about timing.

[edit]
Ah ha! Finally got the darn thing to work. The download speed is much slower compared to the actual speakeasy speedtest with the chicago server: (speakeasy)

There is prolly a good reason why, but I certainly don't know it.

Same here. It's the fastest package that SBC will allow me to use and oddly enough, the cable speeds for this area are worse. The best cable plan is only slightly faster than what I have, but at twice the price.

You may be able to do some tweaking to increase your speeds by using some advice from here. Read carefully before trying anything though. I was only able to boost mine a little, but it was noticeable.

Wow that's weird, by changing the kb vs kB settings for yourself, you change them for all other images you see... crazy.

just tested again, after changing the setting to KB instead of kb, and i think me ISP has capped me, i've seen downloads sustain at 1400KB before... plus the server isn't less than 50 miles away, it's more like less than 30 if my memory serves me correctly, either way, i'll probably end up bitching someone out AND/OR switching ISP's tomorrow.

Unreal. I considered going to cable only for the internet but after seeing these ups, I'll stay where I'm at.
Halo2 live takes alot of up speed since it has a revolving host setup.
