how do I use this?

I have this in xml
code:

<List
id="wasabi.maki.wazzup"
feed="???" <--- how do I use this??
multiselect="0"
autodeselect="1"
x="5"
y="5"
h="-10"
w="-10"
relath="1"
relatw="1"
/>

can I someway "feed" from maki?
ie: can I make the list receive a string from maki?
if not, how do I send the "feed" data?

The only way (I think) you'll be able to do what you want is by creating the whole List dynamically using MAKI and setting your feed parameter using SetXmlParam().

This is assuming I've understood correctly, which thinking about it, isn't actually all that likely.

that list tag is for example what's used for listing the file extensions in preferences, and also the skins...

I don't need it for selecting anything, I only need it for showing text..

Try this to fill a list in your XML code :

<List
id="wasabi.maki.wazzup"
items = "test 1;test 2;test 3;test 4"
multiselect="0"
autodeselect="1"
x="5"
y="5"
h="-10"
w="-10"
relath="1"
relatw="1"
/>

I've use "items" with WasabiropDownList and it works, I can fill my list.

Try:
code:

XUIListObject.setXMLParam("items", "item1,item2,etc.");

-IF- that works, you can write yourself a little function to make things easier:
code:

sendList(Guiobject listObject, list itemsList){
string itemsString;
for(int i=0;i < itemsList.getNumItems();i++){
itemsString = itemsString + "," + itemsList.enumItem(i);
}
listObject.setXMLParam("items", itemsString)
}

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

this doesnt work either:

How about just guiobject? That's all you need in order to be able to use setxmlparam.

ok, progress...

I got the listobject to show an item, but only one..
and there are more problems..

here's a list of all current problems:
1. only one item, I want the listobject to have as many items as the maki list "list itemsList", and not just have one item containing all items separated with commas

2. the item almost only shows garbage text, plain text gets screwed up and shows garbage ASCII pr0n instead.. (though some text remains normal)

k, think thats all...

edit:
#1 fixed..
changed "," to ";" now it works..
though #2 is still a big issue

edit#2:
#2 fixed..
only problem left is that the list has no hscroll, and I need that..
any idea how to implement one?
hscroll="1" doesnt work..

There's something up with strings in general, I think. I also got number 1 working(my mistake in the first place). I'm going to keep playing with it to see what I can see

ok then..
but since you might have missed it, I edited my post acouple of times with new info..
ie: thing works now like I want it to..

I only use the sendparam, not the sendlist function, as it only caused problems, somehow that was the thing that borked the text..

This is a very useful thread that has allowed me to create a wonderful list. The only problem now is that I want the list to be a useful contributor to the functionality of my skin. Has anyone figured out yet how to capture list selections in maki?
