Service pack two, and windows visual Styles.
Anyone else's visual styles not working anymore (with service pack two)? I repatched UXtheme.dll, and it still didnt work. Anyone know how to get around this?

Neowin patcher 2.0 worked for me with SP2 (had to run it twice).

Yea, I tried that. I ran it twice (once it UNpatched it, and the second time it repatched it).

That zip file is corrupt... I've downloaded it more than once but every time it was 1kb.

the uxtheme zip has the dll you need to replace with replacer. Dont bother with stylexp, its not worth using. |

I use TuneUp WinStyler (part of the TuneUp Utilities 2004 application). I've also been using SP2 for a few months, and have switched between some 40 to 50 visual styles as a part of SP2 testing, and I haven't come across any problems yet.
I don't know what style switcher TU2004 uses, though...but I think it's just a basic XP theme manager replacement. It didn't have to install anything in safe mode, so it's not a "UXtheme clone". I've got the setup files for UXtheme and a few other theme switchers, but haven't installed them again after installing XP Pro a few months ago (and SP2 soon after). When I run out of style varieties using TU2004, I'll venture into them. I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash. |
