How do you drink your coffee?

Well, how do you drink your coffee?

Black. I used to take half & half with sugar, but I found that I didn't always have them when I needed some coffee. So, I got used to having it as is and I prefer it that way now.

Anything that's not out of a polystyrene/paper cup really.

Some memorable cups of coffee I have known :-

Early morning, Freezing cold, Gare du Nord, Paris.
What they call Une Grande Tasse, just about saved my life.

Cantina in Huehuetenango, Guatemalan highlands. Bit of a pilgrimage that one.

Some long forgotten chick who invited me back for a cup of coffee one night.
The coffee was crap, but everything else came up to expectations.

Same here, but with a pinch of extra bitterness.

I like strong coffee. I'd drink it black if my stomach could handle it, but it can't. For that reason I use a bit of milk - and because I don't like the taste of the milk I add some sugar

For work I make regular coffee in a regular type of coffee maker. One travel mug and a thermos full, with enough left over for my first morning cup. With cream and sugar, of course.

Evenings and weekends it's Senseo, Regular roast mainly. I don't like flavored coffees, unless I flavor it myself with some Baileys.

Soda was the gateway drug to coffee for me. As I teenager I was drinking a bit more soda than maybe I should have. One day I was out of soda but did NOT want to go out just to get more. Suddenly had the urge to drink coffee. At first I would just add sugar or hot cocoa powder but after a while I got tired of running out of sugar/cocoa and switched to black cold-turkey. That was when I was 16. Straight black coffee no sugar ever since.

I used to be like that. I would drink 2, sometimes 3 pots of coffee in one day (I have a large coffee cup!). That all changed when I started having heart palpitations. Now I've limited my intake no more than one pot a day and stopped eating bread with "enriched" flower and the palpitations stopped.

I have an espresso machine, so I like a "breve" (a latte with half and half instead of milk) a lot. I've been known to drink straight espresso. I like that if I have some chocolate. This time of year I like iced coffee. 4 shots of espresso and water do the trick there. I don't like anything in it usually.

Normal coffee is too weak for cream and sugar so I always drink that black.

To stop heart palpitations, which 2 of my latte's will cause, I drink a lot of decaf too. I probably drink as much decaf as regular.

A few months ago, as I took a 40 gallon leaf bag full of pop cans to the store, I decided I wasn't buying any more pop. I still get the occasional energy drink, but you'd only find 2 cans in the reefer along with a couple kinds of fruit juice, some lemonade, ice coffee and sun tea. Even with more expensive fruit juices, I think I'm saving $20 a month by not buying pop. I think my waist line saves 10 pounds too, even with cream in my coffee.

I hate decaff. It never tastes exactly the same as regular and it's like false advertising to my body. No placebo affect for me

I'm usually already wired enough when I drink decaf, or at night, when I don't want to be wired. With me, it isn't just the buzz. I love the taste of good coffee. Decaf isn't exactly the same, but I think quality decaf is a tasty beverage too.

Let's face it. 2 quad shot latte's is about a coffee OD.

I was thinking about the decaf thing and things have changed. It used to be decaf was made out of bits and pieces, overstock and floor sweepings. I got some Ethiopian Ogsaddey Dry-process Sidamo decaf yesterday that is awe.... freaking.... some...

What is just some pretty good coffee is a Costco brand "San Francisco Bay" Columbian in either decaf or leaded.

When I was a young guy, Seattle was the only place in the country you could get a decent cup of coffee. Luckily I was there. As the attitude changed that we don't like drinking Folgers much, so has the quality of the decaf unless it's Folgers.

It's funny. I still like Folgers if I'm camping, but it must be percolated and boiling hot. Maybe it's just nostalgic or something. I still have a percolator.

"Don't drink that coffee!

I put a fish...

...in the percolator!"

Folgers is my current favorite atm. I haven't had the courage to try a different brand in a long time because every time I do I get "burned." Maybe I'll "remember" to pick up a very small can/jar of decaff next time I go grocery shopping and see if it got better or not...

Roughly 85-90% of what our stores sell is Douwe Egberts - Aroma Rood Filtermaling (basically translates as regular) I guess that's equivalent to the rest of our country.

Oh - Check out Douwe Egberts "Black" if you have the chance.

That's the sort of percolator I have. U can toss it on a fire or use a stove. It's pretty ugly looking from being burned in a fire enough times, but it still works. You gotta really get a good boil going to get all that good coffee juice out. Folgers in a drip machine comes out too mild.

Douwe Egberts.... I bought some of that in a specialty grocery a while back. It's one of the very best of it's kind.

The economy is playing hell with small roasters and coffee shops just like everything else, but I always found it useful to seek them out. I'm still drinking some Kenya AA that I got before my local coffee house went out of business. This leaves freaking Starbucks. It's not like I even mind giving $15 a pound for good stuff. I mean it's got to drive the price of my morning espresso up to $.50. Good coffee is about one of the cheapest ways to spoil yourself in my book.

For normal coffee in a drip machine, I'd either get Farmer Brothers or MJB.

Gah! You've hit on possibly my biggest pet peeve. Adding an 'x' to espresso.

Although, after a little Googling, it appears that the 'x' is actually correct in some parts of the world? Is this true, Europeans of Winamp?

Nope. It gets used quite often but it has never been correct.
