I find music to be too subjective for a stepped, empirical rating system. Also, my taste changes slightly over time, so rather than keep up with continually changing/updating numbered ratings, I don't use them.

If there's an album I don't listen to for a year, it gets its rating changed from "keep' to "delete".

I haven't yet deleted anything. Storage space is too cheap nowadays.

True. But 800+ GB on a 1 TB network (of which around 250 GB is music) forces me to "clean house" every now and then. But I'm already planning to expand to 2 TB, so this issue'll be resolved soon.

Well, for a year or so...until I fill 2 TB of storage space.

I just can't bring myself to do that.

250 GB, that's 57 DVD-Rs (to store away and forget about, but at least it's not completely deleted)

The only album I ever deleted was some form of death metal, even then I paused before pressing the button.

Some albums take 10+ listens to fully appreciate, if I started deleting stuff I'd be sure to regret it. Half the songs I initially tag as "crap" end up in the "this is good shit" camp.

I have a mate who'd love a band one year and sell the CD's the next, I always took the view that what's good is good and what's crap is crap, regardless of time (I guess it requires a certain mindset).

I'm kind of like that but I don't sell the CD's. Well, apart from my eminem and ICP Cd's, but I just threw those out. :/ I didn't want to inflict them on anyone. But here's my Organizer, yes I use Itunes, shaddup. Itunes handles all the background shit like my ipod, playcounts and database. This does all the interfacing.
