Hello, maybe you think this question is foolish, but I would like to know: Is there any Difference between ALAC/FLAC when played in Winamp, quality I mean.
Alac & flac?

No, both are lossless. Thinktink has an excellent alac encoder plugin if u need one.
I prefer alac, bc most things support both, but apple only does alac natively.
I also prefer alac bc it has a better defined tagging standard.
The one drawback is that I think flac has built in crc checks u can scan for, but that is something only the most nerdy among us really worry about.PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/

Is it safe to use ALACs on PC? And can they have any kind of sign put to their tag fields? Can they have made-up-by-user tag fields?
I use FLACs, WVs and TTAs [and yes, that trio has its point]. With that last format there is problem in Winamp [http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=451765], so I would be glad to switch to something else, as my number of TTA files is growing

Safe? Yes, it's safe.
ALAC uses the m4a or caf containers, and ergo that's how they are tagged.PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/
