Media Poll

Hey everyone!!!

Do you use your computer for music listening, or do you burn mp3s and play them on a living room/sitting room stereo?

I'm interested in what you all do :-)

Thx

I used to use my laptop as a music player while on the move, but then it broke.

My own home computer is the main audio equipment in my room, bar a number of older sterios I wired together a couple of years back.

I use my computer for the sole purpose of hacking into the computers of people. I generally harvest their IP from forums such as this, and although I never do anything bad, I find it passes the time.

I do not believe in stealing, so I do not download anything that I am not legally able to do so. In fact I tend to delete programs such as Audiogalaxy and Napster from the computers of people I hack into.

Be warned.

I buy 100 packs of cds from costco and I take 40 minutes out of my day to burn a cd of 20 tracks or 250 mp3s on to a cd so I can put in my stereo and have it skip every five seconds while I"m trying to find song 234. Then I spend 30 minutes adjusting my Eqalizer levels so it matches the general sound of the pointless cd I burned.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

instead I load all 30gbs of my 5,000 songs into a simple media library and load as many songs as I'd like and pick any one of them with the click of a button. Then put on my dsp plugin for Winamp. With a hook up to my stereo with one simple $5.00 cord I can listen to my 400+ hours of music while I gaze longingly into my 32-bit color fullscreen milkdrop visualizer.

I use mp3 for all my purposes

At home : my computer is hooked to my stereo system, so I just use Winamp.

In the car : I have an excellent car mp3 player, I burn mp3s to CD-RW each morning and there I go.

When I travel : I have an MP3 CD player. I stack up mp3 cdrws if I have to travel and there I go.

I'd rather use my hifi over my pc as it sounds a hell of a lot better. If I don't have the song on CD though I use my PC, connected through another silly priced cable. On the move I have a Nomad Zen which is wubly .

I use my desktop to listen to music. I have decent speakers and use winamp!

I use my laptop to listen to music while on the road - using winamp of course!

In my van, I have a cd player that plays mp3's and I have xm radio (sattelite radio) anyone have that? It rocks! I have 100 + channels of non commercial radio that I can listen to.

Big Hugs,

~ Missy

In the home, my notebook PC is the center of all music playback. My media process is:

1 - Rip CD to PCM WAV, track-by-track
2 - deGlitch (to remove extraction imperfections)
3 - WaveGain (to level volume and eliminate clipping)
4 - Encode to FLAC (lossless compression)
5 - Apply tag info with Tag&Rename
6 - For PC playback, it's either...
- a - Winamp >>> Echo Indigo (soundcard) >>> Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (speakers+sub), or...
- b - Winamp >>> Echo Indigo >>> Sennheiser HD-590 (headphones), or occasionally the Grado SR-80's
7 - For home theater playback, its...
- a - Winamp >>> Echo Indigo >>> lineout-RCA connection to Sony ES receiver >>> Bose Acoustimass 10 (ugh...last two need replacing with something decent)
- b - For parties, I also use video-out to the TV (or projector) and run Milkdrop

And it's not part of the question at hand, but in my car I also listen to the same FLACs...my music's all on a 60GB hard disk cartridge which also plugs into my car's audio system (also has CD/MP3 player in the head unit which I never use, and Sirius which I hardly ever listen to).

My CD's all sit in a box in my guest room closet.

I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash.

Depends on where I'm staying.
If I'm in my room .........my pc is always on and playing songs(obviously boy-bands)and if I'm in the living room I just use the hifi.....though I always forget to turn off my speakers so they also keep playing........

All pop music is good music but all good music isn't pop music
Wanna know more about pop music or my boy-bands?

I have great Clone speakers, but not satisfied to that i have an Sony Mini-System 250+250 RMS connected to it ..
Not satisfied with this too, I have an professional 80's Techincs equalizer and an 90's Pionner amplifier ...
All this stuff, plus Winamp, great pacience to download music vids, plus a cable to connect my Video Card to my tv, I have my own Media center .. heheeheh

Winamp is my music player of choice because of my 650 watt sound system.
