Eye opener

So, today was going as good as any Friday when, on my last load of the day, a Texan at-the-wheel tried to kill me....................3 times.
76,000 pounds of Kenworth vs. GMC Yukon (Texas plates)

Guy try's to pass me in a left turn only lane. Made the mistake of laying on the horn and when he saw his mistake, he pulled toward my front fender forcing me into the shoulder. Slowing rather drastically, he made it in front of me but tried to block me from re-entering the highway. Once I made it back onto the northbound lane, he began slamming on his brakes attempting to make me rear-end him. 3 times this douchebag tried to lure me in.
Incredibly my brakes were epic today and I ended up in a ditch, nearly rolled over and on the verge of a major organ meltdown.
Got his plates though.

Fuckin' Texans!

Next time, do not go on the shoulder or the ditch. Any damage or worse in that case can be blamed on you.
Stay in the lane you are supposed to be in, brake, yes, but if you do hit him, it was him that caused it and he will have to pay the consequences.

In other words, next time (there never is with the same guy) run him over and kill him.

You do have a legal responsibility to try to avoid an accident if possible. If you get caught trying to cause an accident (i.e. slamming on your brakes for no reason) you're also screwed.

New "aggressive driving" laws in the United States can get you a ticket for either.

In Oregon, you don't want to get in a pissing match with other drivers. The "Road Rage" laws are very serious. Crimes, not traffic infractions.

Problem is that it's hard to prove that you couldn't avoid crashing into someone else

Courts will split damages sometimes when the accident has elements of mutual stupidity.

You do not have the responsibility to kill yourself doing so. Putting a cement truck in the ditch might just have that result.

Here in Alberta, if you switch lanes to avoid an accident and by doing so cause another accident, you are at fault. No matter how stupid the first driver was.

That guy was lucky this time, but we all know it's just a matter of time before he gets his.

Drivers like that roll the dice often, and there's only so many times you can do that before getting the unlucky number. Enjoy the fact that your brakes, braking system, tires, and suspension were all well made and well installed while checking the newspaper every so often. I'm sure he'll turn into new red and pink paint for a telephone pole or someone else's truck before long.

Don't forget to live before you die.

i'm still trying to figure out how a piece of shit GMC forces a semi or cement truck (even harder) to do ANYTHING, especially with chev at the wheel.

I hate everyone, so you don't have to.

ROH speaks much wisdom.
Avoiding a potentially deadly crash was my first instinct.

Having tinted windows, I thought afterwards that his passenger, maybe his wife, was in that seat in which case she would have been killed instantly.
I stand by my instincts in this one.

I don't find a problem with trying to save a stranger's life, even if he/she doesn't seem to deserve it at the time.

I often talk (or type) about what I would/should do when it comes to "punishing" assholes, but when something this dangerous happens in real life, my first thought is the safety of everyone involved, especially those who are innocent bystanders or unrelated drivers. My conscience just wouldn't be able to handle it for one thing, but for another, it's not my job to play the part of a vindictive god. Perhaps if it warranted it, I might make a police report if I had the plate number, especially if I saw the douchebag doing stupid shit before. With enough police reports, they can take action in a peaceful way. Having the power and size of a big-rig carries a lot of responsibility, and I'm glad that most truck drivers are safe people.

Don't forget to live before you die.

Driving in and around Houston for the past two years has made me RAGE. I don't know how they get licenses, but these idiots can't drive worth a shit down here. I bet that asshole in the Yukon was probably from Harris County, too. It's no wonder why the auto insurance rates are through the roof around here... These people suck behind the wheel.

I'm going to start writing a book. It'll be called "You Suck At Driving." I wonder how many I copies I can sell.

We're inundated with Texans every year here. They come to escape the heat I guess but I've never seen the stupidity is Texas driving.

Why is it that I always struggle to find information about Texas that I like? I've only been there a couple times and wasn't too impressed. About my only decent experiences there were airport transfers when flying south of the boarder. When visiting friends who moved there from OH, I had a long list of bad experiences, and I probably won't be going back, although I still visit with them when they come north or to Las Vegas.

Good thing about Texas: BBQ.

I see Texas plates now and then, and they are usually doing something stupid like speeding or cutting people off or running red lights. I've got a buddy in the CHP who says the second most commonly pulled over out-of-state plate for him is Texas. First is Nevada, but Nevada is next door.

I'm really not sure what the attraction is; it's just a desert for the most part.
