Forum Upgrade

Hi everyone :-)

If all goes to plan, then we'll be upgrading the forums to vBulletin 3.8.4 sometime tomorrow.

The forums will be unavailable for 3 or 4 hours...

So I thought it best to let you all know.

To quote Taber
Quote:
after the upgrade is complete there will be a few differences here and there... the login box is up top instead of at the bottom of the page, there are funky dhtml vbulletin menus in the forums nav for things like search and the community pages, etc. i tried to keep the theme pretty similar to the existing one.
There'll probably also be a few teething problems after it goes live
whilst we're fiddling around with settings and stuff.

If it doesn't happen tomorrow, then everything didn't go according to plan....

Do they even still sell that? I thought it was all about v4 now.

But still I guess that will shut people up when they moan about something about the forums.

I'm actually impressed, okay I guess you had some issues with the conversion, but it's not too different looking that before and the new images are really nice.
Three Three Three, Three Three, Mother fucking Three! (I like that.)
Also the downtime messages were great too.

I like the multiquote.

I don't like having to press 'quick reply' to quick reply.

I also don't like needing to have javascript active to use quick reply at all.

The forums look great, though.

Default font size needs increased a point or two. Kind of tiny. Seems the page width was deceased, too. Possible to make the width fit with your browser's width?

Pressing tab in the user name box should take you to the password box, not the end of the page.

Certainly wasn't expecting an upgrade, was actually wondering how long til this place 404'd.

Minor nitpick, but the line that differentiates the post from the signature is a bit too close to the post's background color, so unless the sig is in a different font/color it may be difficult for some to distinguish where the post ends and the sig begins.

1) fix your damn login thing.
i put in my user name and then I hit tab, "ZAP!" I'm at the bottom of the page only to put in there, then tab again "ZAP!" back to the TOP of the page >.>

and
2:

^ fix this.

and dont give some BS about bandwidth, it doesnt load up the winamp.com's server, it loads up youtubes.

and for those whom live in the dark age and still use dail up, not only do i pity them, but also should only use up much of their's until it gets accessed, otherwise its just a thumbnail with a little adobe flash.

oh yeah, nice update, but no youtube vb tag = dark age also.

Needs more moo-cows.

vbulletin uses bbcode instead of html code
this is probably why your youtube code is no longer working
click on where it says bb code is on for more details of codes available in this forum

thanks rob

For some reason I get logged out a lot under this new system too - I have to keep logging in (or is that a problem on my end? - wasn't before.), but the look seems good, and I'll have to learn multiquite. I like the new emoticons/smiles. Are avatar rules still the same?

On many forums, the youtube tag is bbcode, albeit custom.

Can't change or at least find where to change my avatar.

I wouldn't mind the forum nav bar back at the bottom of pages. (Winamp Forums > Community Center > General Discussions)
Okay this just happened, heh.

Also I preferred the previous font and sig <hr> needs to be a darker colour.

BRB remaking my dark theme.

rockouthippie / Omega X: looks like registered user is what is in place for the old member categories though no idea if there's something to flip the old mode back on or not.

In the "Old Version" you could upload your avatar or change it for festive occasions, I don't find that option in anything...maybe I'm wrong...I can't find the smilies I looked washed out ..I'm getting a "special headyache".
