****i Damn It****

Time Warner/AOL == Devil

Well, my Internet is down until Monday, when a Time Warner guy is gonna come out and fix it. I'll be absent from the forums until then, and xzxzzx.com will be down. Sorry about this, to those who have crap hosted on there. Trust me, I'm not happy about it either. I need my drug. Fortunately, I can tell all of you this due to the Internet-access-selling shop I'm in right now. I guess that's it...

Hope your shtuff gets fixed soon. Without your contributions, this forum's argumentative half will be offset unequally by its couldn't-care-less half and might cause an all unholy disturbance in the continuum of the universe. We can't have that, now can we?

The problem with AOL is, versatility and compatibility are zero--and you're paying it. So if the bank messes up on a payment (and they have, SEVERAL TIMES) then you can't read your e-mail, no matter how urgent it is, because no other proggy can read it and they'll shut you out.
Which is why I've posted a gmail invite-beg at the gmail thread!

I havn't used AOL for years. I'm referring to Road Runner, Time Warner's cable modem service.

Anyway, I went out and bought a modem, and now xzxzzx.com is back online, though slow as hell. You'll get your mail now, Nobby.

I'll be back in full swing by late Monday, according to Time Warner.

You're still way better off than I am, I have very slow dial-up. On the upside, it is up 99% of the time.

Darn, I can't think of anything to put here.

Well, I'm back online, thanks to 10 minutes of the cable guy's time (messing with stuff outside, where I can't "legally" get to it). It's $50 (about)/mo, and I get about 4000/500, though in practice, it's a bit less during the day, around 2500/500.

I'd get 1500/1500 DSL, but I'm too far away from the CO - best I can get is 384/128.

Don't ever get 384/128.

It's a bitch just to have 2 computers, and one computer on trillian while your gaming. My ping has been as high as 9000.

Not funny

yeah, i'm back.

Hah. No shit. I'd get a T1 before I'd get 384/128. Even if it meant giving up oh, say, eating.

Not true, AOL now has some IMAP support so that you can check your mail with outlook, thunderbird, etc.

AOL still sucks.
