Laptop Games

I have been playing Starcraft and Warcraft on my laptop for a while. What other games should I have on a laptop? It's probably not going to be shooters and anything requiring super fast GPU stuff.

I was sort of looking for something to play while blobbing around in my lawn chair. Stuff that you can play with a touchpad.

Perhaps something more casual than the craft type games or good games like those.

For it's 1996 day, Diablo was the bomb. 14 years later, it still holds up pretty well. I burned a lot of time playing this on a Pentium 75.

Wow. I was looking at the specs. 8 megs of RAM, a 60 Mhz processor. It's amazing what we were using 15 years ago. It wouldn't even qualify as a computer anymore.

I gave away a few old computers to a couple of teenagers (17-18 years old) last year. There was a 486(Toshiba T6600c), a 133mhz P1, 300mhz and 400mhz computers. They were excited for those things. They wanted to play the old games. I used to play Digger when I was little. I play Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge sometimes.

Command & Conquer 1-3, all can be freely downloaded. EA released them as freeware:

They all should run on old hardware very well. Since the mission discs are included as well, you can spend many hours with it.

Diablo 2 + Extension is a budget title for years, it's much more advanced than Diablo and you quickly can become addicted. It's also very old, so it should run on your Laptop too.

There are tons of small mini games available too, one of my all time favorite is Icy Tower:

simple but it brings a lot fun.

Nice find on the C&C freebies. I already have Tiberian Sun and Firestorm though I never play it. I prefer the Red Alert series.

I'm having a lot of trouble with getting RA going on my laptop. I'm keeping the iso but I'm going to keep playing RA2.

Thanks for pointing out some freebies I didn't know about. I have been looking at some of the Quake III open source derivatives that are interesting too. This isn't exactly what the thread was about, but my friend put kwaak on his android phone. Quake Live is a fun, free web too.

I checked out icy tower. Yeah.... pretty neat.

When I was asking about good laptop games, they didn't have to be free ones, but it doesn't hurt.

My laptop isn't super wimpy (Athlon 1.2Ghz L310 X2) but as with most laptops the graphics card (Radeon 3200) isn't anything to write home about.
