What's causing this?

Hey'all..
Everytime I run winamp it creates a logfile in the startup folder, how do I stop this?

Logfile content:

SampleRate = 44100
- starting nosound...
WARNING: llamada ClearAuxBuffer
- Starting MIDI OUT
- MIDIOut started (0): Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
- Starting MIDI IN
- nosound started

System specs? (cpu, ram, soundcard, windows, directx)
Installed any 3rd-party winamp plugins? If so, which ones?

This is a first case scenario, never reported before.
What is the filename.ext of the log file?
It saves it in the Startup folder?
You mean ...\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
and therefore it loads (in Notepad?) every time you boot into Windows?

It looks like it's got something to do with in_midi.dll, but could be a 3rd-party plugin to blame, so answer the above questions first, and we'll take it from there . . .

Thanks for you reply DJ Egg.

I didn't mean The Startup folder though, just whatever folder I launch winamp from. I've located to file being dumped from the Sk@le plugin, so I'll look it up with them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

They used to call it Sk@le, might just be Skale now - with no @. Doesn't matter.

Ever heard of FastTracker? Skale Tracker is similar, but for windows, and the plugin is for playing the main SKale Module format, (SKM). AFAIK, it's still in early developement stages.

Check http://www.skale.org/

Cheers for the info.

Yes, I'm familiar with FastTracker .XM modules.
Didn't know about SkaleTracker. Looks very tasty.

I've been using Modplug Tracker for a few years.
Still haven't mastered it yet, lol.

SKM should really be supported by Nullsoft's Module Decoder.
Jake Stein did the original (Mikmod) code, Peter Pawlowski then took it over, and now it's developed by X-Fixer (I think?) . . . think I'll PM him about this.

Turns out I only had to update the plugin, I weren't avare they'd released an update...?!

I can't play SKM's in winamp straight off, maybe in winamp 3? Which I'm NOT installing again, too slow, and too much...I don't know, just too much I guess.

As for modplug, only the player is worth anything, even though it hasn't been updated for years.

No, neither Winamp nor Winamp3 supports SKM extension by default.

Hey, I don't even think Modplug supports SKM. As far as I know, Modplug still gets updated . . . I downloaded a newer version of MPTracker a couple of months ago, but the player hasn't been updated since Nov 2001.

If Skale lets you save as XM or MOD (for compatibilty reasons) then I might give it a shot. I'm always up for a challenge.

Anyway, glad to hear there's a newer version of the plugin, and that your problem is solved

Look out for Winamp 2.92, coming very very soon

Skale can save XM's, works fine with the latest release. It says it can save MOD's as M.K. and XCHN as well, haven't tried.

You can only play SKM's with Skale or through the plugin, for now. Plugin has only been available for a couple of weeks.

Looking forward to 2.92!
