I believe internal beta testers have builds of it, but it's not out for the public yet.

No, it's not public yet.
Beta1 public release was Beta 1 build 5
Beta2 public release was Beta 2 build 7
The latest Beta3 build is too early to go public yet.
The general idea is to discover and get rid of as many bugs as possible first, then it's leashed on the public, so more bugs can be discovered and gotten rid of

Saying that, there's no news yet about whether Beta3 will even go public.

For all we know, it could go straight to release candidate, then final,
or there could be more betas . . .
basically, as always, no-one knows
(well, someone does, but it ain't me, and even if it were . . .)

Oh, is it that time again? (6am GMT)

Yes, this is something i've always wished for too, cuz i like having windowshade always on top, but i don't like any of the other windows on top. for the moment, i just close them (mostly referring to the PL editor), but it would be nice to not have to.

That is something I really need. If that was implemented, i'd be a very happy man. I use the media library alot, and its annying having to close the ML each time i want to switch windows.

Looks cool

Just tried it out.
Well I'm impressed as well as dissapointed.
I like the new UI. Just worried it takes up more space than before (and yes i know about windowshade mode). but that not a biggy. What i am really dissapointed about is 2 features that I've got really addicted to in WA3. That is the 1. media library window and 2. playlist editor

1. Media Library Window - does any of you find this one more usefull that the ML window that was in 3 (no seriously). this looks too much like Media Player. For heavens sake Justin, what happend to good ol nullsoft innovation. The WA3 media library window was cool coz it offered quick filtering by artists, album and what not. in the case of WA5 you have filter it or sort it - not a cool option when you have like a kazillion mp3s. Maybe theres a plugin outthere for wa2 that works on wa5 that I am not aware of. So pls enlighten me if there is. And yes I happened to glance at the view feature. Looks cool, but does it have the ability to write loops - tell me if any of you find this usefull coz even though it is a cool feature, I would trade it for WA3 ML anyday

2. The playlist editor. another feature i got quite hooked on in WA3. i.e. multiple playlists - i know it can be done through the ML window in WA5 but its not quite the same thing

What say you?

@Tariq

1. Winamp5 has the media library and the features you speak of, just click on the ML button or right click and choose library. To get the quick filtering just click on the audio part of local media(it's been there since at least 2.9x)

2. People have been clamoring for that feature and it a a very well known request, even Dr.O has stepped up to the plate in an effort to design a gen_ plugin that mimics the WA3 playlist sidecar

besides, WA5 is still in the beta stages right now, so who knows what all will be in the final release?

I didnt read much in here, and not sure where to post this, but im having a stability issue with Winamp5 Beta2, in_vorbis.dll, and streaming audio.

I've been listening to Virgin Radio UK via their Vorbis stream since it sounds awesome even at 96kbit, since winamp5 came out. After I switched to Beta 2, I started getting stability issues. After listening for a while, sometimes as little as 5 minutes, others, as long as two hours, winamp crashes with the following message:
AppName: winamp.exe
AppVer: 4.9.9.1
ModName: in_vorbis.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 0000df80

Best place to report bugs is in the WA5 Bug Reports thread.
Include basic system specs (cpu, ram, windows, soundcard, directx)
and anything else relative to the problem, eg. in your case, a direct link to the stream (or page containing link).
Also confirm that you aren't using ANY other 3rd-party plugins, and confirm which output plugin is active.

your lack of any grammar whatsoevr confuses me, but i think you want an optin to choose the priority of/disable certain buttons in default skin windowshade mode.
If so, i agree.

Ok, better question, is it even out yet?

I know there is a Beta 3, because in the Winamp 5 Wishlist there was this text:

"(Updated for Winamp 5 Beta <3)
* Denotes new entries "

...

And now there's:

"(Updated for Winamp 5 Beta 4)
* Denotes new entries "

The new shit that is crossed out.

I'll throw you guys a bone:
* added bitrate & file size columns to library (you may need to rescan your directories for this info)
* added IPC_SHOW_NOTIFICATION for plugins to ask to show the notification, returns 1 if the skin implements it, 0 if not
* added "show notification" global hotkey
* added user-definable global hotkeys (gen_hotkeys)
* added font override combo for pledit
* added "recent items" view to media library (independent of main library data -- tracks files, streams, etc)
* added column customization in library (right click on columns header)
* added comment, play count, last played, last updated, and ratings columns
* added ratings setting context menu in media view
* made the library detect alt+3 tag changes from within winamp and keep DB up to date
* added query editor, whoohoo
* added option to use pledit font in trees and views, then justin fixed it
* updated to new sonic SDK
* fixed mini info viewer bugs
* made winamp use filename guesswork even when library isn't open for script access and title formatting (of course, only if no metadata is in the file)
* made library info viewer have meaningful info on artist/album clicks
* made library never add .cda files
* created general API so people can use the sendto menu in ml plugins and in other plugins
* added ML DB API, and ML plugin adding API for other kinds of plugins
* added sendto menu to playlist editor context menu
* made nsv/mp3 tag editting not increment play count
* added data track checks in CD ripping
* added spacebar shows current playlist item in playlist editor
* made ml's recent items optional, and moved config for it to prefs (added option for how many days to keep items in list, too)
* made ml's internet tv/radio items optional.
* made library DB file updating more robust, and added a ton of code to recover corrupted DB.

Plus a metric fuck-tone of modern skins updates which I left out because it is long and boring
A few Modern Skin updates include:
- Notification thingy on track change.
- Opacity only when not focused
- Stop the song ticker from ticking
- Cross-fader options
- Slightly difference winshade
- Ability to link all windows Opacity to one setting
- Much much more, which is usually boring to read about though.

I don't think you will see b4 publicly released either. Final is coming up Real Soon Now.

Thanks for the info Sawq.

Any word on how much Pro is gonna cost yet?

And I am the only one that has terribly unsynched video/audio when streaming NSV?

Thanks, that fixed it. Is this bug known? I guess I'll go report it. Pain in the ass having to turn my plugins on and off every time.

i don't think it's a bug, just the way those plugins operate. it IS a pain in the ass though.

i saw one topic about the alphablending on component windows problem. will it be solved later?
the new modern skin of wa5 has an equalizer attached to the main window. is it possible to attach the playlistwindow to the main window (+alphablend the whole skin this way)?

really close is relative.

I hope they include some visual goodies for the final. (=icons/manifest stuff).

Are there only betas for the PRO version out, or also betas for standard and lite?

I am still bugging for that one. We'll see.

The Betas are only for the Pro because they are for testing, seems silly to have a test build that doesn't test everything.

I'm sorry for general newbieness, but what's the point of an XP manifest? Surely the point in most apps is to allow generic controls (i.e. standard windows controls) to use the XP skinning system, but since Winamp is already skinned it wouldn't have any effect?

For the Win32 dialogs in Winamp, like the Prefrerneces windows and other dialogs. It's a minor thing, but still could be easialy added.
