Woo-hoo! Page 4! Gotta love it...this one's HOT!! Maybe this thread should be renamed "The DrO Appreciation Post", or "DrO for President Post", or something...

PS: @Dro: Just found (no pun intended) your "find on disk" plugin on SAWG's "Most Useful Plugins"...very cool (and very handy!) Any other little "gems" we should know about???

It's just a few threads down on the Winamp Discussion page, here.
[edit] oops, someone just bumped it, so you really can't miss it now, hehe [/edit]

btw, DrO, if you could find some way of adding "play next" to the right click context menu in the playlist (when you right click an entry), then Winamp 5 will be as near as perfect for me (in addition to all the new stuff in beta3). I'd be happy if it only worked for one track at a time, though multiple trax would be superl33t.

Hey, I'm still hoping that Nullsoft can recompile Winamp3's pledit.wac and turn it into an "advanced playlist" gen plugin for Winamp 5 . . . well, we can but only dream, lol

I start to believe that this plugin is longer/more awaited than Winamp 5 itself. How many pages has the Winamp 5 thread?

@daz:
Thanks for being so responsive. It's nice to recognize that someone really listens.

if the song playing changes / the option is disabled / dialog is closed then the position of the list after the current song is reset - sensible i think to do it that way also it is not a default on option so it won't confuse the people who want the intended 'move after current' feature.
Yes, that's sensible! I would turn the feature on by default. That would please AlL people, not confuse them.

I open the Jump-Dialog, move my favourite songs after the current one (in the order I want them to play). Then I close the dialog.
When I have a quick idea, I move this new song after the current one and this one is played first!

@Mmusicman, this would do it for both of us, wouldn't it

I wouldn't have thought of resetting the enqueue list when closing the dialog.

ok second go on posting - not happy since i can't upload on the work machines (new job and all that) so unfortunately the new version won't be up until tonight

changes:
now if i say all then there won't be any surprises... (a few bits aren't complete yet )

@GqSkrub: i'm sure you're using the 'move after current' - that's the only way i can reproduce what you have.

@Dipso: i haven't done too much just yet but it's up near the top of my todo list at the moment

@Mmusicman: 'one-click', 'displaychange' (early version currently), 'timerestore' (foobar autostart and playback position restore - needs a few changes to be made to it soon), lots of example code for other people as well in the dev forum...

So not too much really

@DJ Egg: i've got to do a bit of fiddling to ensure that i get the correct item though the menu is very easy to add - will look into it soon.

@amano:

i have the odd good idea at times

blimey page 4 and this was only meant to be a test plugin to show it was feasible for someone else to do (nevermind now )

check in the wishlist for 'foobar features' or something similar.

as for development of it i've had the occassional flipping of the pause state when restored but it seems to only happen if i really screw around with winamp when testing other plugins but everyone else hasn't had any problems with it - that i know of

i was going to update it soon anyway since i've got better code to detect winamp closing on a log off/shutdown - the current code is a bit of a hack (well it was my first winamp plugin)

i thought it may be useful for people to know what the current todo list for the plugin is at the moment (subject to change of course and in no real order)
  • queue indication for the 'jump dialog' (working between reloads)
  • finish updating the jump dialog interface (options button, etc from suggestions earlier in the thread)
  • add to enqueue management (add/move/remove selected in list)
  • support to customise the enqueued indicators (will be a global option initially - dialog and playlist)
  • fixing any bugs left in the current code (shouldn't be much )
  • start working on the playlist features
  • optimise and clean up the code (more for me but it's a bit messy at the moment)
  • winamp skin support (he he that will look leet with modern skins!)
i can't give a timescale of development and when i'll release a new version (other than today's later)
["when it's ready" is the best phrase] but there should be a fair bit done by the end of next week.

very nice! this is looking like something people can *really* use, with the multi enqueue support. make that set by default, as well as the list move mode. i think most people would find that more useful than not.

thanks at both of you.

i was going to make the multiple queue option the default just i didn't initialise the internal value for it when i built it.

@WHEREamI: as for the move list that will be off as default so the 'move after current' will do as it says. i did consider changing that to on always but it doesn't make sense against the name of the mode. but i can understand your point for having it on

installer options maybe?? when you get to that point, i mean. That would make it more visible as an option and perhaps avoid n00b posts. I agree with what you're saying though. the name would be misleading if move list mode was on by deault.

OMG!!! This thing REALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, I hadn't noticed the "Jump to File" options box that "magically appeared", located under "General Preferences"...(I was waiting for it to appear in future releases and was unsuccessfully trying to access it with the configurations tab under "General Purpose" plugins...

WOW! What a discovery! Not only has DrO taken years worth of hoping & waiting in 'Winamp Wishlists', and created the solutions to "enqueing" and "move after current" (in 2 weeks); but he has created an options box with enough settings that should make EVERYBODY happy!!!

This thing is simply TOO COOOOOOL!!!!!! (I think it works perfect!)

Sorry to repeat myself (from several pages ago), but
...DrO...you ARE 'DA MAN!!!

This little goodie will be of IMMENSE help to me!

Can't thank you enough......

PS: Waiting for the "startup demo" that should be included with future Winamps.... "DrO...HE REALLY WHIPS THE LLAMA'S ASS!

Great stuff DR.O

You are NR.1

Are you gonna make it reenable shuffle mode once the queue is completed? That would be awsome. (yea, im lazy )

as this is an enqueue plugin, it won't confuse people even if the option is called "move after current". I would turn both enqueue list options on as default.

the basic features are there. the plugin is complete, the rest to come is visualization!

btw, great work!

well, i think it still needs to have some sort of indication of what's in the queue, and is therefore not quite ready for publication. But that's about all that's keeping it, to me. I'm sure DrO is working on that though. Keep up the awesome work!

What do you want? Blood?
At least it says how many trax are enqueued. Ain't that enough?!
You know roughly which trax you enqueued when you clicked them, yes?
What more could you possibly want? The plugin is f00kin awesome as it is!

I think DrO is going to implement the option for the J window to be skinned.
Of course, if he can find a way to display a huge list of eg. a 150 queued trax, then so be it (though I think that'll be coming in DrO's next masterpiece project). Personally, it doesn't bother me . . . but I'll leave it for the maestro himself to have the final word

Well i knew that thats why i put the lol there (should have been emphezised (spell?) a bit more) But i had to mention it, maby you where the Neo of winamp

Keeping it on milkdrop though (minor threadnapping here) someone said it was dead, and if it isn't (_please_ god!) where do i adress my wishes/requests`? because a "j feature" in fullscreen mode would kick arse, id never use my computer for anything else again... (uhm, come to think of it, i would, but it would be tempting not to..... )

You've already installed it,
by placing gen_jumpex.dll in the winamp\plugins dir.

First make sure you've got the latest version, as linked to in DrO's signature.

Then open Winamp,
with trax loaded in the playlist,
press J on your keyboard

Config options are available in the settings page in:
Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Jump to File

eg. "Enable multiple enqueue" is a good one to checkmark

Sorry, you lost me at the config options. Yes, I have the latest (.09 plugin, Winamp 5 beta 2). "J" brings up the jump to menu, but I don't understand what to do after that. Which settings page? I did the CTRL+P, but couldn't find "Jump to File" on the list.

Thanks.

This has been a fun couple weeks watching the birth and near maturity of this awsome plugin. I'm going to miss waking up to see what kind of new "magic" DrO has done with his masterpiece.

This is undoubtedly the most functional addition to grace the Winamp world.

Is there a place where I can find more of "Dro Greatest Works & Masterpieces"? (seriously)

What's next?? (a vacation is deserved)

Thanks again, Dro! (praise repeated...see previous 4 pages)

I think that instead of the button being "Cancel" it should just be like... "Close" or something. Cancel makes me think it drops the entire que. Where as it certainly doesn't (which makes this so damn awesome.

Also, I understand where you are coming from Egg with "you know what you enqued", but if there was a side window of the que where you could move songs around in the que, something like WMP (i can't believe i said that, but if was the only reference I thought of, and it was at a freinds house, certainly not my computer )

Awesome awesome work my man!
