Don't stay up all night, it's only a piece of software. A piece of software that isn't really that much different from what is already available (RC666). And it isn't like Nullsoft was going to release it at midnight or anything. It will happen sometime Monday during the afternoon or evening probably. It's probably going to be a lot of work to get everything going and uploaded. I would assume this will happen during normal working hours. There is no need to stay up waiting for it. It will be released when it is released. Damn.

(Nullsoft is located in the Pacific US timezone, because I know someone will ask).

Yup, got that right. I don't lose my sleep over WA 5, even it's gonna be great when it will be launched. It's 11.40am here, so i still have some time to wait 'till it's my bedtime...

Geez. You guys are still talking about it like the world will come to an end or something if it doesn't happen right away. You all sound like a bunch of nail-biting, hair-pulling Nervous Nellies.

Like Sawg said, it will be released when it is released.

*Nunzio wishes that Justin had never posted a set date in his .plan

OK!! We all lied! We just wanted to see how you would react. The test is over. The truth can now be told... Winamp 5.0 Final will be released on Wednesday, Dec 17th, at exactly 3:12 PM PST

There!

Now you can all relax and get some sleep and maybe wake up to a surprise.
Now watch this shit - some frOObat will actually start posting that they've heard from a moderator that it's being released Wednesday and not today.

You are right...

Database error: connect(localhost, slusers, $Password) failed.
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted

OK... now do this quickly, and I mean quickly. I've just temp-loaded it to my server for you. Download here > winamp50rc666_full.exe

Let me know as soon as you have it so I can free up my server space. Plus... I don't want everyone shooting my bandwidth up through the sky with a bizillion 4mb downloads from my server all happening at the same time.

By chance, did you install RC8 "over-the-top" as an upgrade to a previous Beta Build of Winamp 5.0? If so, and then the problem with the MMD3 skin occurred after that point, you did very wrongly, sir!

Partially quoted from the Put ALL Winamp 5.0 RC Bugs In HERE! Sticky thread...
Quote:
UNINSTALL ALL OLD BETA BUILDS BEFORE UPGRADING TO RC and FINAL!!!
So, if you had done that, then completely uninstall and then reinstall the latest release candidate (RC666) from scratch. So, the deal is this...
1. You can seamlessly upgrade from Winamp 2.91 to any Winamp 5.0 RC, and then also to the Final
2. You can seamlessly upgrade any Winamp 5.0 RC to another RC, and then also to the Final
3. But ALL Beta Builds would have had to have been completely uninstalled before "upgrading" to anything else, or problems might develop.

btw... the author of the MMD3 skin is the same author of the pre-bundled Modern Skin in Winamp 5.0 (Sven Kistner)

RC 666 is working great. I've been waiting for Sonique2 for like 3 years (still in Alpha), but winamp5 is so good, I don't even think I will download Sonique2 when it goes final (maybe in 12 years at their current pace) Also, does anyone know if there are other milkdrop presets to be had other than those that ship with winamp5 rc 666? Milkdrop kicks @ss! 12 percent processor usage at 1280x1024x32bpp in fullscreen mode! (AVS uses like 95 percent on my proc at 640x480x32 in fullscreen, and 60 percent in overlay mode(with the window stretched to approx 300x200 pixels.

LOL. I don't know what I'm gonna do with you people. I guess people are so used to me being serious that I can't get away with making a joke

Methinks I shoulda been a GD mod instead of a Tech Support mod. GD mods can joke and have more fun, and it's almost expected of them.

Listen up everybody...

It'll be here today. But also expect some extended downtime where Winamp.com will be offline. But also be consoled by that downtime when it happens, because you can take comfort in the fact that when Winamp.com does come back online, the entire site will have been revamped, and Winamp 5.0 will be here too.

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. Of course, Winamp 5 IS cancelled. We're going straight to WinampX. It was determined during beta testing that a Roman Numeral will get more users than a ordinal number, and we all agreed that X is a very pretty character, what with it's vertical and horizontal symmetry.
