I loved Winamp until I came across better software...
Only thing that bugs me about Winamp on Windows 10 right now is it buffering while trying to listen to radio streams... The buffer settings have not been changed. Not a fan of VLC it used to be OK |

cut down stuff that i dont want? (e.g. it relying on ffmpeg/libavcodec for some of its thingies which of course adds a lot) besides, in terms of playing vintage formats like NSFs and what have you that include subsongs, VLC doesnt have proper support (and emulation is also not great either) with winamp (or WACUP, whichever you prefer), i can just pick a plugin, install it and configure it to my hearts content and if it sucks then i just uninstall it, with VLC you're stuck with what you're given, and i dont like that it's weird when people call winamp "bloated" but praise VLC for the formats it includes |

See my Signature... RDJ does everything I ask of it from playing a stream without buffering to automating my music. Yes it requires a database but its far more flexible with audio formats. |

VLC also doesn't play blu rays from the disc. I use Leawo Blu-ray Player for that. Nor does it load up blu ray menus from blu rays or 4K movies ripped to the disk. I use JRiver Media Center 26 for that. But big picture wise there are a few things that run as much as VLC does. To play movie files it is the main thing I use. I mainly use Winamp for audio and while there are a few things it can do that VLC can't the main reason is nostalgia and an homage to what it once symbolized. For movies Winamp isn't a good player. |

Winamp always did have problems playing Video without it appearing blocky and pixelized
Anyone remember Wiinamp TV with .nsv streams the quality of the video on some of them was awful too I rarely watch Videos on the PC and IF I do its usually VLC that handles them. As much as I dislike VLC I have it installed JIC. |

Wish they hadn’t given up on Winamp, it could use some development in Windows 10. For the most part it works but some things like the equalizer don’t. I always liked the tiny fullscreen visualization plugin but that won’t go either. Even so, Winamp is still the best player ever made, especially for audio and I’ll be using it for years to come.

For me, Winamp has been the first one around the beginning of the 2000s, but is amazing how it is keeping on the hedge all of these years, I still remember how cool it was all the skins, how light and well was working (an opinion of a computer dinosaur)

Funny story. Was looking through some .mpg video files from many moons ago. They worked on Winamp right off the bat. They worked on Windows Media Player after it downloaded the mpeg-2 video extension. But they didn't work on the latest VLC.
Goes to show you that it's always good to have multiple players. |

Personally Im using the KL codec pack which comes with the old windows media player which is still being updated regularly as are the codecs. Hugely configurable and haven't found anything yet it won't play.
