hmmm...is my skin too dark?.....ive seen some comments that say its contrast is too low.

i think you people need to higher the contrast and brightness to the max on your monitors to see it the way i do...and also adjust that gamma stuff.

take a look with a higher contrast version.

the original is on the left.

Well, your skin definitely is too dark on my computer (unless the room is totally dark, I guess). However, I know that many monitors are brighter than mine (even on full contrast/brightness) - though I find that anything brighter than what I've got is a reall stress on the eyes after sitting in front of it for a while, so I wouldn't up my brightness/contrast even if my monitor allowed it. Having said that, I don't think the new one in your screenshot is the answer - it looks too washed out.

blah, stupid computers with millions of possible settings.(i bet the judges with bright monitors gave me the best scores! lol)

yeah it looks washed out, but i never planned on using it as an answer anyway since i already submitted to devart and winamp.

this really makes me wonder about how other people see skins.....what if those dark breedart skins look super-fantastic on blueballs comp?

When I calibrated my monitor, I ended up with 100% contrast and 75% brightness. With these settings the skin is fine, a bit darkish (especially the shuffle button) but usable. However, I find this too bright (except when watching fullscreen divx) and I usually lower the brightness down to 50%, and now the shuffle button is just invisible (in the screenshot), but the skin stays usable.

on my monitor, set 80% brightness/80% contrast, its appears i assume the exact same as yours xeno. i think the text could use some darkening in the ml (and lightening in the pl), but overall the colour balance and darkened areas are fine (for me).

At night I can see it with no trouble whatsoever, 100% contrast and about 78% brightness, any brighter and I get a headache Only thing that disappears is the shuf unpressed/off state just vanishes, but the rest stays visible; if there's shade buttons on the eq and pl I can't see those either, and the buttons on the main shade are just barely visible to me. The text on the other hand, I have no problem seeing clearly :\

LOL Jellby...

thats ok, had you taken first and me second, I'd have swapped with ya in a heartbeat (along with quite a few others I imagine )

Ahhhh, I'm glad I'm not thin skinned, or I'd take my "worms" and go home; latest comment just made me laugh though. Specially since he seems to have a little bit TOO much affection for Alien Eyecandy right now Oh I remember only TOO well when I fell into that trap!!! Ahhh, memories...

EDIT: Hey, can everyone post their links to their skins on winamp/devart so I can comment? Hell yeah I'm lazy!!!

It's just a shame that someone who clearly knew that it was a remix, and had bothered to type out a long review, didn't bother to click the link to see the original - especially since that would help the clever little thing "figure out what the theme was"

Don't bother Dimich.
Being seen as the best at something always attracts the envy of others.
Me thinks the guy just had a bad hair day.

I personally like this comment best:
"Sorry to be so hard on you but you cut my skins to the quick and deserve an honest opinion.Hope you learn from it.Have a nice day."

I disagree. I think they were both great skins, but I don't think either were particularly good remixes.

I like Lord of Landmines, I just think it could have used more allusions to the normal skin, including perhaps being blue, and an eq that was more similar, while still being unique. I know it's hard to picture what he could have done, but that's what made the contest so interesting.

Yeah, Lord of Landmines wasn't too bad, remix-wise, I guess. Though, IMO, it had several allusions to EnergyAmp, but not much actual remixing. To me, it seems heavily "inspired by" EnergyAmp more than anything else, while not actually having any direct connection to it, and at the same time not really offering much that EnergyAmp already hadn't offered. It tackled the remix concept a bit loosely for some of the judges' liking, I guess - and I'm certain that making it blue wouldn't have changed much where that's concerned. As a stand alone skin it's very good, though I like Energy Amp better, and I like many of Monaux's other skins better as well.

LOLM was listed in the judges' top 5's more than almost every other skin (all except The Hollow, from memory), so it was popular with the judges - but it seems it didn't 'blow them away' as much as other remixes, as it didn't top any judge's list.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.
