how to capture video and stream it

Ok ok , I have been messing around with the video streaming. But the problem is if your computer or the software your streaming with does not recognize your video as a "video capture" device you cannot stream it. Is there a way to capture like say a video game live or whatever your looking at on your monitor LIVE to be recognized as a video capture device?

I've tried camtasia and it works by capturing a section of the screen but it dropps frames and looks like crap in the end .

Fraps I noticed does a good job at capturing stuff off your screen but the computer doesnt recognize fraps as a video capture source.

Anyone got any suggestions?
