Winamp crashes on startup

So I encountered this problem today with my Winamp 5.2, then I decided to uninstall it and replace with Winamp 5.551. The problem persists; I installed Winamp 5.551 cleanly, but when I'm running through the third part of Winamp setup (the online services part) it crashes, no error messages or anything. I've tried alot of things found on these forums but haven't found a solution yet. Can anyone help me out?

-I obviously don't have any other than the default 5.551 plugins, since I can't finish the setup
-Some asus motherboard with built-in soundcard, not aware of the model
-AMD athlon 64 3500+ processor, 2,2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM
-Asus nvidia en7600gt videocard
-Windows XP SP2
-DirectX 9.0c
-Winamp 5.551 full

As said, no error messages, I have no idea what causes this. Possibly interfering programs, HijackThis log attached.

I'm getting the same problem, got sick of Winamp nagging for an upgrade and now it's all busted (yet again, if only something ran on Vista which synched with my Ipod and LastFM better I'd give up on Winamp, breaks too often )

- HP NX7400 Laptop
- Intel Centrino Processor 2.4Ghz
- Windows Vista Business SP1
- Winamp 5.5.1 Pro

Task manager shows Winamp uses around 1MB ram before getting no further.

My winamp is also crashing when I'm trying to start it, I do however get some message saying "winamp has a problem and has to be closed" Then ther's alot of textasking if I want to report the problem to Microsoft...
