Playing Folder via Context Menu Sorts Items Incorrectly

Hi guys.

Using the latest Winamp on Win 7 64-bit.

If I rightclick a folder & select Play in Winamp the songs are added but the numerical order of filenames or tags is not adhered to. So an album will play in seemingly random order. I remember Winamp used to play items in numerical (alphabetical?) order. Is this a Windows 7 problem?

Thanx 4 looking.

Is it that hard for any of you to check?

Winamp will just add the files in the order it gets them from Windows / Explorer. if you click on the first item within an album/folder and then click on the play/enqueue action then it will usually be added in the order seen in the Explorer window. if you click on other items then the order can be anything.

I noticed what you described which is slightly different to what I was talking about. Both of these behaviours are new to me. I am wondering if the change was caused by a Winamp update or because I've changed from XP to Win 7.

Either way I think users would prefer that they are in control of the song order & not Windows Explorer. Is it possible to request this feature/bug fix?

Right clicking a folder in Windows Explorer & selecting Play in Winamp is pointless.

You might try the plugin "Album List 2.07" by Safai Ma
http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=268
This can enqueue albums in numerical track order from the media library.

between differences in the order in which files are physically stored on the chosen storage device and Explorer doing somethings differently then there is a noticeable difference between XP and Win 7.

i think there's been mention of an input filter / ordering aspect though that would slow things down especially with adding in an unknown folder. really the better option is to use a playlist if possible for the folder though i guess that's not going to make you happy if you cannot just do one action on the folder.

I've never had to use playlists & don't feel like adding extra steps now to enjoy my music. I wouldn't feel right about posting in the forums requesting functionality that only I would use. I think most users if asked would prefer folder contents be played in order. I hope the devs haven't lost track of the simple things for all the advanced functionality Winamp offers.

Thanx.
