SHOUTcast v2 - Source gets disconnected randomly

Hi guys. We`ve been using SHOUTcast v2 as the streaming server for our online radio for more than 2 years now, with some minor issues that were fixed, and with good overall experience.

But in the last month approximately, a strange issue has appeared and I`ve been unable to get around it. The thing is that every now and then, the streaming source gets disconnected from the server, just like when it gets kicked from the admin page. It has been happening from both the same machine where the SHOUTcast is installed (it`s a VM running Windows Server 2008), using SAM Broadcaster 4.9.1 to encode; and also from the different computers that connects to stream the different shows (all of them also broadcasting from SAM).

At first, I thought that it the interruptions in the stream could be generated by internet micro-cuts, but I installed an Internet monitor app on the server, and found that the connection never went down.

By that time we were using SHOUTcast GUI to set the server up. I updated it to the last version, and the problem continued. I then fully uninstalled it, and installed and ran the SHOUTcast 2.4.2 that I downloaded from this page. Unfortunately, the same issue still persists. The server never stops running, it´s just the current source that gets disconnected, and then connected again with no issue when the encoder retries.

Here`s an example of what I can see on the logs:

Any ideas what can be happening? I`ve searched on the previous posts but none of the issues seemed to be similar to this one. Any help or idea will be greatly appreciated.

If more data is needed in order to analyze the situation, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Luis

I guess the problem is the source - i.e. SAM - try an alternate source, see if that disconnects too

So I did

and enabling all debugging options on the DNAS as that may contain a bit more information on what is causing the disconnect i.e. if it's the source instigating it or something else. as just because the monitor is indicating things are good, doesn't mean some sort of packet loss couldn't have happened which could make the source drop.

Thanks for your help you guys!

Seems that I was finally able to solve it. Enabled all the debugging options in the sc_serv_conf file, and when I checked on the log, there was an error of source disconnected bt timeout (strange because the source was always playing and there was no large spaces of silence).

Anyway, after that I added the autodumpsourcetime=0 line in the config file, and restarted the server. Thought that option was set by default, but it seems that you have to be specific about it.

So far, 18 hours broadcasted with no interruptions.
