Im considering adding the shoutcast server to my sports sites as we will be doing online live commentary on matches.

Say there will be about 500 listeners at one time - what would be the minimum spec of the server i should be running?

Any other help on this will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Anthony.

Minimum spec on the server itself or specs on bandwidth requirements?

If it's bandwidth you are asking about take this into account: I run a shoutcast server on a static ISDN line streaming 24k audio streams...At a maximum of 8 listeners I have already exceeded 75% bandwidth usage...

I would recommend a T1 or better for your server(s). If you are co-lo'd, then you should be sitting on a T3...make sure you are not restricted by your ISP before you set something up of the scale you are talking about...
