Winamp 5.1 video playback issue

There is a problem with the output of the video files. The far right of the video window is now a solid color and doesnt contain video. This ONLY occurs in the winamp modern skin but not in the classic.

The same they were in winamp 5.0.94, which makes me wonder that since I never changed anything, it should work with an upgrade.

I'm having a somewhat similar problem with Fullscreen with the GUI on. The left and right edges (up until the point where the normal GUI black bars are) are black and block the video. Also, the normal bars that would give you information are completely blank and don't show anything. Now if I want to watch something in fullscreen, I can't have my controls...

I noticed that this doesnt occur when playing the first video in a playlist but does occur when selecting the next track via the skip track button.

yeah, this is weird...there are 2 vertical rectangles on the left and right side of the screen when I go full screen during movies...

No, because we can't reproduce it.

Please provide relevant system specs (mobo, cpu, graphics, windows os, directx, etc) and tell us what video formats it happens with (divx, xvid, mpeg1, mpeg2, wmv, all), what directshow filters are in use (c/o Winamp > File Info/Alt+3) and also confirm a clean install of Winamp 5.1 with no 3rd-party plugins.

What happens if you change the setting 'Resize video window to fit video'

Can you also try playing the same video clip over and over again. Put a single file in the playlist, turn on repeat and use 'Next' a few times.
Does the window open progessively larger and larger ?

I have the problem with NSV video (only known one because that is all I use Winamp for as far as video is concerned).

Windows XP SP2
MSI 865PE Neo2-P
Pentium 4 w/HT 3.0GHz
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
1024mb RAM
DirectX9.0C Latest Update

Same with clean install. I noticed minor GUI glitches a few versions back when the GUI would suddenly dissapear/freeze the characters would change into various other symbols (Webdings font I believe).

This happens to me as well, but only on 4:3 videos, and when I turn the OSD off, it doesn't happen anymore.. but what a thing it is!

SO! I read that turning off hardware video overlay gets rid of this problem.

...It does, but who wants 70% CPU usage during video play?!

I think my problem is not different. The picture is terrible when playing .avi files, but it's ok with mpg and mpeg. It's still can be viewed, but more like it had been recorded with a bad video camera. Anyway, the avi files is ok on the other media player.

Exact same problem here....

black bars on the right and left sides of the screen when in full screen when the controls are on (on screen display enabled).

This has happened on all 4:3 video files (divx, avi, mpg, etc.).

I can get the video correct by either disabling on screen display, disabling (allow hardware video overlay), or by disabling lock aspect ratio (which fixes 4:3 videos but totally distorts widescreen video files by streching them to 4:3.

Seeing as none of those are actual solutions, it would be nice to know if there is a way to fix this...

Clean install
Win XP SP2
Direct X 9.0
ASUS P4P800
Pentium 4 2.4
Nvidia Geforce 5200
1GB Ram

The black space around all 4 sides of the video when the onscreen display is active is by design, ie. it's the space reserved for the osd. It should only appear when you move the mouse to make the osd appear, and then it should disappear when the osd goes off. Or did you mean something else?

thats exactly it. anything new? has it changed in 5.111?

i'm afraid to update because for the last year, every update i have made to winamp has fixed one problwm, and brought on a new one

Yes, although the latest version is 5.111, it was fixed in 5.11

(we actually managed to reproduce it with nsv streams)
