check out my Stream Calculator located at www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php
Click "Period Usage" to get a calculation on how much bandwidth would be used in a given period of time. Check out the Input feature on the DSP and set it to Soundcard to have it record from a mic for you audio source instead of Winamp. -Jay | Radio Toolbox.com |

Hi there,
so i have a problem with the traffic, too. I can´t believe what i have calculated here. So let me give you some expressions : I thougt about 5000 Users on a stream with 128 kbit/s 24/7. so first of all 5000 * 128 = 640000 Kbit/s 640000 / 8 = 80000 kb/s = 78,15 Mb/s okay now the time 78,125 Mb * 3600 = 281250 MB/h 281250 Mb * 24 = 6750000 Mb/d 6750000 Mb * 30 = 202500000 Mb / month 202500000 / 1024 / 1024 = round about 193 Tb 193 Tb ???????? Is this calculation correct ??? I can´t believe it. Please give me an answer if i did something wrong because who can afford such big amount of traffic ??? Only in 1 month ???? Regards Highfly |

Using the tool at www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php we get:
Period: 1 Months (30 days) Stream Bitrate: 128 Kilobit(s) Desired Listener Max: 5000 You would consume: 1,582,031.250 Gbit(s) This is assuming that 5000 listeners are connected 24 hours a day for 30 days. Here's an idea: Start smaller. |

also generally speaking the yp directory will not list you as a 5000 usermax server, last I heard the limit was 1000, so if you do need that many slots consider using relays.

No i don´t think about 5 k users. i only think about 300 to 500 users.
But it´s for a gameradio and that´s the only one here in germany for that game. I calculated with 5k useres because of an advertise where you can get an account at a provider for 99$ and you can serve 100 users. So i thought about this and asked me how that my be affordable for this provider when he has 50 customers. Okay my problem right now is that i have my own server at a german internet provider but only 50 Gb / month free. Because of this my own server i want to install a streaming server on this machine. But now i think it will be impossible for me to do that because of the traffic. So that´s my problem ![]() Does anybody here know a provider where it´s possible to serve 300 - 500 users for an affordable price ??? It`s only a private project and i don´t have so much money to afford such amount of traffic. Regards Highfly |
