Do you remember?
Ok, since the threads are mostly so utterly boring I decided to make my own, and this thread is about the oldschool netsurfers and oldschool hardcore gamers. So I have a few questions about this.
- Do you remember Commander Keen and the Invasion of the Vorticons? - Do you remember how to access a BBS? - Do you remember the difference between the weapons of GDI and NAD of Command & Conquer? - Do you remember when everyone was braging about having a 14.4 baud modem? - Do you remember FastTracker and QPEG? - Do you remember how to complete the first map of Doom with 100% of everything? - Do you remember DOTT? - Do you remember ROTT? - Do you remember One Must Fall? - Do you remember how many episodes there was in the full version of Wolfenstein 3D and how you started Wolfenstein to be able to use cheats? - Do you remember how the sound of PC speaker music sounded? - Do you remember Pinball Dreams/Pinball Fantasier/Pinball Illusions? - Do you remember Sierra adventures like Police Quest/Space Quest/Larry - Do you remember the password to gain access to the ho in the bar of Larry 1? - Do you remember Quarantine? If you have any things you wanna add it would be fun or just if you remember any of those things ![]() And sorry for posting at the wrong forums... it was supposed to be general discussion... and I have asked jones to move it. 09 F9 11 01 9D 74 E8 5B D8 41 56 C3 63 56 81 C0 |

i remember commander keen and PC speaker music sounded. i still have a 386 with win 3.1 and DOS 6.22 and a 9600 baud modem. i haven't played Wolfenstein 3D in a very long time. my dad would probably remember how to access a BBS.
i think somebody should do a skin in rememberance of the old days(games and OS stuff). There is no sig. |

huh... pulse, that bring back a lot o memories. how about ... Duke nukem. the first one. the 2d vesion.
wolfenstein ... funny thing. i'we found it on a ancient cd with a game colection (i thin "idot's guide to pc games") a few weeks ago. i'we played it for abut 5 minutes and got dizzy and a huge headeach, becuse everthing was moving too fast. still it was a cool game. or, going down on memory lane, better yet (i used to love that): the age of the HC (home computer). 48 BASIC - a huge amount 48 kb of ram!! still. i think some of the best games i'we ever played wore on those machines! |

I have DOTT and Stunts. Both are still fun on occasion. I also have the first two Monkey Island games.
We used to have Street Rod on the ancient school computers years ago, and we were in awe of our teacher who had a saved game with the best car. |

I grew up with Commander Keen. And then there was Wacky Wheels, but that was a bit too childish and silly me. I remember that I did a great mistake, i introduced my younger sister to Wacky. She was addicted to it for a year or so. Can you imagine? She sat and played the limited shareware version of Wacky Wheels for hours.
That was a difficult time for me becouse it meant I had to share "my" (or more exactly "the only computer of my family that happened to be placed in my room") computer with her. Does anybody here remember the MOON easter egg in keen 4? |

Califonia Games and Skate or Die - Yes. I played those two games (and the Super Mario Bros.\Duckhunt combo) for hours on end.

Who can forget wacky weels. I had a super MIDI card at that time. (Orchid Sound Wave 32+) and the fancy music of wacky weels still klings into my brain.

Hehe, I love Transport Tycoon (get it running under Windows XP/2000 with loads of new features from http://www.ttdpatch.net)
I, er, remember bragging about my new 2,400bps modem - and how it could access BBSes as amazing speeds. And then getting my first "laptop" with work - a Toshiba 3200SX (with nice red screen). It came with Dos 4.0, and I think I'm right in saying Windows 3.0, though I can't remember now whether I had to buy that separately... ...I've still got the original Windows 1.03 5,25in floppies lying around here too.... |

Toshiba is actually the only "big and well known" brand which isn't produced at the same factory as IBM, HP, Dell... yadiyadiyada...
And Toshiba seems to be good, except it scored quite low on the last consumers test on TV here in Norway with it's last model. 09 F9 11 01 9D 74 E8 5B D8 41 56 C3 63 56 81 C0 |
