aac plus or aac freeware linux encoder ?

Hi

Is there any freeware aac+ or aac codec for linux ?
I know about the "DSP..." plugin for winamp, but
I want to use Icecast server and linux codec to
stream aac.

Any suggestions ?
Regards, Rob.

yes. it does beg the question why you are asking this in the shoutcast forums when you are using neither winamp, the dsp, or shoutcast however.

I am sorry...
I try to apprehend how it is with licencing laws, I know that the Ices codec use libshout2 and Ices is GPL for example, so I'm confused. I asked about winamp, because I don't understand, why Windows AAC streaming is possible and free of charge and Linux aac straming are not possible. I'm trying to find on a few forums any way to stream aac/aac+ with linux box. I'm sorry that my posts are offtopic a little.

Thank You.
Rob.

The GPL is a copyright license it does not grant the use of patents. AOL will of paid for the use of the patent(s) for use in their plugin, AOL has not paid for the use of the patent(s) in any other product including ices or libshout2.
