So, would this be the key needed for ml_iPod to work with the new iPhone firmwares? I'm a little lost when it comes to this stuff....

YIIIR

got it working

ipod Touch fw 2.2
jailbreak
WinAMP+ml_ipod 3.07p2

okay so here i the method i used

1. Update iPod Touch to firmware 2.2
2. jailbreak with quickpwn
3. install OpenSSH and reboot
4. install Insomnia and activate
5. shh into the unit and Edit /System/Library/Lockdown/Checkpoint.xml find DBVersion and change value to 2
6. download shareware sftpdrive and map a drive letter to /private/var/mobile/Media

then just follow the install guide on winamp and ml_ipod(with patch)

the only problem when sync over wireless is that it does not do the "sync in progress" so i have to go into the ipod app and hold down HOME for 5sec before i can play my songs

So basically what you say is it did not work with FW 2.1, but with FW 2.2 it did work out fine, right?

Good news, thanks.
I'm currently preparing 3.07p03, which will have the possibility to perform the change in Checkpoint.xml automatically (after confirmation, of course). Maybe you could test that, when it's ready?

It already works that way - but it needs the cable connection to do that, no way to do it wireless

hmm i see your point, can you then add something like custom command to run after eject

then i could add my own ssh command to kill the app?

Ok, the patch is ready.
Please revert all your manual changes (/System/Library/Lockdown/Checkpoint.xml should have DBVersion 4, remove allowIphoneFw2 from winamp.ini), reboot the iPhone. Install the patch and try to connect to iPhone (use a cable this time, it won't work otherwise). Send the main debuglog to me (attach here or PM). Thanks.

BTW: new feature for you, automatically launches aftereject.cmd after any device eject. aftereject.cmd must be in ...\Winamp\plugins\ml_ipod and is optional

cool. One more note: this version writes DBversion 3 to the xml. If the 3 doesn't work (it should, as FW 1.1.4 has 3), tell me and edit it manually to 2.

EDIT: Just checked on a different device, 3 seems to cause problems!!! Use 3.07p04, that sets it to 2. Sorry. Hope you haven't started yet...

Cool, thanks for reporting, and thanks for the log. Looks all pretty good. Were the on-screen instructions clear enough?

If you have your aftereject.cmd, would you post it here, for others?

and regarding the aftereject.cmd.... sure when i got it working with everything i will so other people can wireless sync like im doing right now :-)

UPDATE:

aftereject.cmd does not work on 3.07p04

log:
--- iPod removed: F:/iTunes_Control/iTunes/
CreateProcess ok: C:\Program Files\Winamp\plugins\ml_ipod\aftereject.cmd
[10:38:31] starting eject procedure

so it does try to run that file but nothing popup

There is no window created, just the process is run. I tested it with a little script:
echo ok > c:\temp\flag.txt

The file c:\temp\flag.txt was written. If you need a window, you should start a second *.cmd file with the 'start' command (haven't tested that)

okay got the aftereject.cmd working but there is still alot of fine tuning todo

i will collect a list with things i think should be improved for better wireless sync

but in the mean time here is the command i put in the aftereject.cmd

1. download plink.exe (search putty on google)
and place it in the ml_ipod plugin folder

2. create a file called aftereject.cmd and type this in:
@ECHO OFF
"C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml_ipod\plink.exe" -ssh@IPAddress_that_ipod_has -pw alpine "killall -9 MobileMusicPlayer"

3. open the player on the Ipod and play a song
4. run the aftereject.cmd file and see if it shutdowns the player

Did you do some testing about speed, wireless compared to USB? Would be quite interesting. For large files (videos), and for a collection of lots of smaller files (tracks). The results will be different, I guess.

I just loaded my iTouch with some stuff, took 2 hours, 2770 kB/s over USB. That would be 6 hours wireless, concerning your first figure.

okay speed over wireless 802.11g 54Mbit

songs: 1040kB/s
video over 400mb: 1050kB/s

and i tried with WPA encryption and without no difference in speed

so for songs that are 3mb each wireless sync is a possibility :-)....

remember it's a sync so you could just copy big files over USB and then keep your songs sync over wireless constantly

Thanks for the tests. Not bad, I say!
When using that wireless connection, are you able to play songs off the iPod in Winamp? Even ones that are not in the media library of Winamp?
